Boumerdes (Algeria), August 13, 2014 (SPS) - Minister of Reconstruction of Liberated Territories of Western Sahara Belahi Sayed reiterated Tuesday in Algiers his call to the international community to exert pressure on the Moroccan occupier to get it to implement the international charters and allow the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination.
In a Forum of “Echaab” paper in the presence of Sahrawi activists and representatives of the Algerian associations, Belahi called on the international community “to exert pressure on the Moroccan occupier which flouts the international charters and the United Nations’ steps aimed at allowing the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination.”
After underlining the human rights violations committed by the Moroccan occupier against the Sahrawi people, he “deeply” lamented the policy of “expulsion of human rights’ activists from the Sahrawi occupied territories.”
For his part, the ambassador of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic to Algiers Ibrahim Ghali said that the Sahrawi cause “has made considerable achievement” since April, mentioned in the last report of the United Nations which has replaced the conflict in its legal framework as well as the appointment of the envoy of the African Union in addition to the expansion of the international solidarity with the Sahrawi cause.
