Shaheed Hafed, May 22, 2014 (SPS) - The Polisario Front reiterated Wednesday its cooperation with the efforts of the United Nations and its Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, Christopher Ross, in order to achieve a solution that respects the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.
In a statement following the conclusion of the Council of Ministers’ meeting, the Polisario Front renewed "its commitment to a constructive cooperation with the efforts of the Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy, Christopher Ross, for a solution based on the respect of the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination. "
The statement lamented the "failure" of the other party, Morocco, "to show sufficient political will to facilitate the mission of the Personal Envoy and his efforts for a final settlement of the conflict in Western Sahara."
The statement recalled the recommendations presented by Ban Ki-moon in his latest report on Western Sahara which stress the need to end the current status quo and confirm the nature of the conflict in Western Sahara as a case of decolonization. (SPS)
