Western Sahara: no energy project should of course be placed in a territory occupied by force (ONG)

London, Nov 24, 2012 (SPS) - Chair of the Western Sahara Resource Watch Mr. Erik Hagen underlined that “no energy project should of course be placed in a territory occupied by force.”


“Connecting the territory to the European energy grid in partnership with Moroccan government, would further contribute to uphold the status quo of the conflict,” stated Erik Hagen, chair of WSRW.

SADR signs on African Risk Capacity Establishment Agreement

Pretoria (South Africa), Nov 24, 2012 (SPS) - The Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) signed Friday in Pretoria, South Africa, along with other African countries on the Establishment Agreement of the African Risk Capacity (ARC), according to a statement of SADR Embassy in Pretoria.


ARC is a specialized agency of the African Union designed to help AU Member States to resist and recover from the ravages of natural disasters.

Administration of Moroccan prison of sale2 prevents families of Saharawi political prisoners from visiting their children

Sale (Morocco) Nov23, 2012(SPS) the administration of the Moroccan prison of Sale2, on Thursday has banned the families of the Sahrawi political prisoners (known as the group of Gdim Izik) from their right to visit their children in a violation of a agreement that was reached in previous meetings between the Families and the administration of the prison, according to Saharawi judicial resources. 
     

Polisario Front-Morocco: Impediments to conflict resolution "clearly identified," says Messahel

Algiers,Nov23,2012(SPS)   The series of informal meetings held between Morocco and the Polisario Front "didn’t give anything tangible" and the causes of this impediment are "clearly identified," said the Algerian  Minister for Maghreb and African Affairs Abdelkader Messahel in an interview published Thursday by the daily paper Le Soir d’Algérie.
 

Zambia reaffirms its commitment to maintain diplomatic relations with SADR (press release)

Lusaka (Zambia), Nov 21, 2012 (SPS) the Government of the Republic of Zambia has decided to “maintain diplomatic relations with the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR)” and expressed its willingness to strengthen and deepen these relations, according to statement from the Foreign Ministry this African country.
 

The Zambian Government has also "reaffirmed its support to  the inalienable right to self-determination and independence of the people of the SADR and all efforts in this direction," the statement added. (SPS).

President of Republic urges UN to protect Saharawis in the occupied territories of Western Sahara

Bir Lahlu ( liberated territories) Nov21,2012(SPS) President of the Republic ,Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz ,on Tuesday asked the United Nations to intervene to protect the Saharawi defenseless in the occupied territories of Western Sahara from waves  of Moroccan repression the last one committed on Monday in the occupied city of AlAyun.

Spanish United Left reiterates support for Saharawi people

Asturias (Spain), Nov 19, 2012 (SPS) - The General Coordinator of the United Left in the Province of Asturias Mr. Manuel Gonzalez Orviz has reiterated his party’s support to the struggle of the Saharawi and Palestinian people, speaking during the 10th Federal Assembly of United Left of Asturias, informed POLISARIO Representation in the province.


The Assembly was attended by the POLISARIO Representative Ahmed Slama, who was invited by the Coordinator of United Left in Asturias Mr. Manuel Gonzalez Orviz.

Moroccan occupying forces assault young Saharawi in occupied El Aaiun

El Aaiun (occupied territories), Nov 19, 2012 (SPS) - Two cars belonging to the Moroccan auxiliary forces attacked Saturday evening without any reason or warning the young Saharawi Hamdi Labkam, where he was touring Al-Jimal market in the occupied city of El Aaiun, capital of Western Sahara, informed a Saharawi right source.

Algeria “is not involved” in the conflict of Western Sahara (UN)

Algiers, November 18, 2012 (SPS) - The Resident Coordinator of the United Nations system in Algeria, Mr. Mamadou Mbaye said Sunday in Algiers that Algeria “is not involved” in the conflict between the POLISARIO Front and the Kingdom of Morocco.

Polisario Front encourages dialogue and a peaceful resolution for Malian crisis

Algiers, Nov 18, 2012 (SPS) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Salem Ould Salek said “the Polisario Front encourages Malians to find a peaceful solution to the crisis at the national level through dialogue without foreign interference”, in interview with the Algerian daily l'Expression published today.

 

Minister Ould Salek underlined that “Polisario Front supports the position of the African Union, while advocating for a peaceful political solution negotiated by the parties in conflict”.

 

SADR takes part at joint African activities of Energy Ministers

Addis Ababa, Nov 17, 2012 (SPS) - The Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) participated at the joint African activities of the AU Conference of Energy Ministers of Africa (CEMA), All-Africa Energy Week (AAEW) and African Investment Forum that took place at African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia.


The SADR was represented by a delegation led by the Minister of Transport Mr. Babia Shiaa.

Polisario Front calls on Ibero-American states to help settling Western Sahara conflict

Saharawi citizens injured due to landmine’s explosion in Tokat region

Smara (occupied territories), Nov 17, 2012 (SPS) - Several Saharawi citizens injured Thursday due to the explosion of Moroccan landmine in the region of Tokat in the occupied city of Smara, Western Sahara, informed the Saharawi Ministry of Occupied Territories and Communities Abroad.


The exploding mine caused the injury of Abdalwahab Ould Bakar who wounded in the head and Al-Ouali Ould Bakar in different parts of his body.

EU deputies urge Morocco to comply with international legitimacy in Western Sahara

Brussels, Nov 16, 2012 (SPS) - A number of European deputies reiterated call on Morocco to comply with the international legitimacy and resolution of the United Nations that call for the right of Saharawi people to self-determination, responding to allegations by Morocco Parliament’s president during the Foreign Affairs Committee’s session on Monday.


The deputies expressed deep concern over the state of human rights and repression in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

Committee on Foreign Affairs at the Swedish parliament calls on the government to recognize SADR

Stockholm, Nov 15, 2012 (SPS) - The Committee on Foreign Affairs at the Swedish parliament approved a resolution calling on the Government to recognize the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), said a statement of the Polisario Front representation in Sweden.

 

The resolution will be presented for approval at the Swedish Parliament at the end of this month to the formal recognition of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.
