FiSahara 2012 asks world civil society to pressurize governments to end suffering of Saharawi people

Buenos Aires, May 6, 2012 (SPS) - The Secretary General of the Saharawi Women Union, Ms. Fatma Mehdi, has called on Argentina to recognize the Saharawi Republic (SADR), in a meeting held Sunday with Argentinean National Television.


Ms. Fatma Mehdi spoke about the violations of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, especially against women, who are subjected to injustice, torture and rape on the ground of their legitimate demands.

Parliament of Navarre reaffirms its support to Saharawi people's right to self-determination

Navarra (Spain) May2, 2012(SPS). - The Parliament of Navarra Wednesday, unanimously adopted recommendation, reaffirming the various declarations that lead to the legitimate right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.

The statement reaffirms the responsibility of the Government of Spain as colonial power in Western Sahara, to lead within the international community work aimed at organization of self-determination referendum in Western Sahara.
 

Sahara International Film Festival 2012 opens in Wilaya of Dakhla

Dakhla (refugee camps), May 2, 2012 (SPS) - Ninth edition of the International Film Festival in Western Sahara, known as FiSahara, opened Wednesday afternoon in the Wilaya of Dakhla, Saharawi refugee camps, in the presence of foreign actors, producers, directors and press correspondents.
 

During her opening speech, Minister of Culture underlined that this edition is for the solidarity with the three European cooperators, who have been kidnapped on last October in the Saharawi refugee camps.
 

Saharawi human rights activist from occupied territories in visit to Melbourne

Melbourne (Australia)May2,2012(SPS) The Saharawi human rights activist from the occupied territories of Western Sahara, Malak Amidane, has begun a visit to Melbourne(Australia) to inform  the Australian civil society and media about violation of human rights committed by morocco against the Saharawis, according to the representation  of the Polisario to Australia.  
   

She delivered a lecture to the RMIT University on 1st May and gave a presentation to the student at Victoria University on 2 May 2012and was also interviewed by local media.
