Council of Ministers approves draft mining law

Shaheed Al Hefed (Refugee Camps), May 15, 2012 (SPS) - The Council of Ministers approved on Tuesday the draft mining law which will be presented to the National Council (Parliament).


In a  meeting chaired by President Mohamed Abdelaziz, the Council of Ministers affirmed that this document is a legal mean for the Saharawi Republic in mining and mineral exploitation of non-oil resources.

SADR takes part at meeting of AU Ministers of Justice and Attorneys General

Addis Ababa, May 15, 2012 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) took part at the meeting of Ministers of Justice and Attorneys General of the African Union (AU) held on 14 and 15 May in Addis Ababa.


The meeting considers the draft Protocol on Amendments to the Protocol on the Statute of the African Court of Justice and Human and Peoples’ Rights as well the Draft Protocol to the Constitutive Act relating to the Pan African.

SADR partakes at 4th exhibition of friendly cultures in Mexico

Mexico, May 14, 2012 (SPS) - Embassy of the Saharawi Republic (SADR) in Mexico has participated at fourth edition of the Friendly Cultures Exhibition that organized current May 12-27 by Federal Government with the participation of 70 foreign embassies, according to a statement of the Saharawi Embassy in Mexico.


The event marked by divergent cultural presentations by the participating countries. In addition, the Saharawi Ambassador attended along with heads of the diplomatic missions accredited in Mexico.

Saharawi delegation visits Australia

Sidney, May 13, 2012 (SPS) - A delegation of the Saharawi Workers Union (UGTSARIO) is making a working visit to Australia to participate at the annual symposium of the Australian Green Left Weekly and general congress of the Council of Trade Unions held in Sydney from 15 to 17 May, informed a source from the delegation.

Seminar on struggle and self-determination of Saharawi people

Montevideo, May 13, 2012 (SPS) - The Association of Friends of the Saharawi People in Uruguay organized Friday in coordination with the Saharawi Republic in Montevideo a seminar about the right of self-determination and struggle of the Saharawi people for freedom and independence.


The seminar, which was held within the framework of the solidarity days with the Saharawi people that took place in Montevideo on May 10-20 under the title: “from Spanish Sahara to Saharawi Republic”, was presented by Emiliano Gómez, president of the Association.

Saharawi President felicitates Algerian counterpart on success of legislative elections

Polisario Front congratulates FLN on victory in Algerian legislative elections

Delegation of UESARIO meets German MPs in Berlin

Berlin, May 12, 2012 (SPS)- Delegation representing the Sahrawi students’ Union (UESARIO) met Friday in Berlin with German MPs to raise awareness about the situation of human rights in occupied Western Sahara.

 

The meeting, took place at the Bundestag headquarters, highlighted the deteriorating situation of human rights  in occupied territories, in absence of UN mechanism to monitor and protect it.

 

Polisario Front calls for Ban Ki-moon to "activate" the role of MINURSO

Bir Lehlou (Liberated Territories), May 11, 2012 (SPS) - President of Republic and Secretary General of the Frente Polisario, Mr. MamedAziz has called for activating the role of MINURSO in organizing  a referendum on self-determination and protecting of human rights in Western Sahara, highlighting in a letter to the UN Secretary General,  Mr. Ban Ki-moon, that no progress has been achieved since the adoption of  UN Security Council Resolution 2044.

Aousserd (Refugee Camps), May 10, 2012 (SPS) - President of the Republic, the Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, asserted that the achievements accomplished by the Polisario Front after 39 years of its establishment "are a source of pride for the Sahrawi people ", in a speech Thursday to mark the 39 anniversary of the establishment of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Sakia El Hamra and Wadi Dahab (POLISARIO).

 

Tanzania reaffirms its support for an independent Western Sahara

Dar es Salaam, May 10, 2012 (SPS) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Tanzania, Bernard Membe, confirmed Wednesday the firm position of his country to support the just struggle of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence.


In press conference held in Dar es Salaam on issues of Africa, Membe said Tanzania supports an independent Western Sahara.

Sahrawi human rights activists visits Denmark to unveil Morocco’s repression in Western Sahara

Copenhagen, May 9, 2012 (SPS)- The Saharawi Human Rights activist, Sultana Khaya has visited Denmark on May 6th to 9th to raise awareness about the grave human rights abuses perpetrated by the Moroccan authorities of occupation against the Saharawi population in the occupied territories.

 

Sultana Khaya was received at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the Department of Middle East and North Africa as well as by the Human Rights Department, according to statement of  the Polisario Front representation to Denmark.

 

Secretary General of Saharawi Students' Union visits Cuba

Havana, May 09, 2012 (SPS) - Member of National Secretariat, Secretary General of the Saharawi Students' Union (UESARIO), Ahmed Lehbib began on Monday a working visit to Cuba, according to statement of UESARIO.

 


Secretary General of UESARIO received in Havana by the Saharawi Ambassador to Cuba along with head of External affairs in Cuban Youth as well as representatives of the students unions, said the source.

 


The statement emphasized that the visit comes as a part of strategy to strengthen the UESARIO branches in abroad.

Danish Party urges his country’s Foreign Minister Pressure Morocco to organize a referendum in Western Sahara

Saharawi singer, Mariam Hasan will present her new album at the world village Festival in Helsinki

Helsinki (Fenland) May08, 2012(SPS) the Sahrawi famous singer, Mariam Alhasan, will participate at the World Village Festival scheduled to be held in Helsinki on May27, according to the representation of the Polisario Front to Fenland.
 

The Saharawi singer will participate with her international Musical group in this world Musical festival, through her new album (El Aaiun on Fire) which include songs such  “I am Saharawi” and “the legacy”  that  reflect the Saharawi struggle for self-determination and independence.
