Security Council "seriously preoccupied" over Morocco's measures against Minurso

Washington, 26 March 2016 (SPS) - The UN Security Council said on Thursday it is "seriously concerned" over the recent developments in Western Sahara, following Morocco's retaliatory measures that targeted MINURSO.
The "members of the UN Security Council held several meetings on Western Sahara and MINURSO, and expressed serious concerns about developments" that have followed these measures, President of the Security Council Ismael Gaspar Martins told the press.

Congressmen: US does not recognize Morocco's so-called sovereignty over Western Sahara

Washington, 26 March 2016 (SPS) -The United States of America does not recognize the so-called sovereignty of Morocco over Western Sahara, considered by the US as "a non-autonomous territory pending decolonization", congressmen stressed Wednesday in Washington.
The Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission dispelled any doubt about the position of the US government on the Western Sahara issue at a hearing Wednesday devoted to the status of Western Sahara.

“It is quite unacceptable that Morocco throws UN staff out of Western Sahara. UN peacekeepers are in the country with a UN mandate to monitor the ceasefire signed in 1991 between Morocco, Polisario and the UN”

Danish members of parliament call the Minister of Foreign Affairs for a debate in the parliament related to the illegal investments in Western Sahara.

Copenhagen (Denmark) March 25, 2016 (SPS) – In joint Press release issued, Tuesday by three Danish Members of Parliament have called their Minister of Foreign Affairs for a debate in the parliament related to the illegal investments in Western Sahara.
 
The Press release was released in the same day that Afrika Kontakt Organisation has published a report showing that Danish banks and pension funds invest in companies involved in the exploitation of natural resources of Western Sahara.
 

Western Sahara: Security Council urged to take action following Morocco's retaliatory measures

Lima, March 24, 2016 (SPS) - Peruvian Council of Solidarity with Sahrawi People (COPESA) has called on the United Nations Security Council to take action following Morocco's retaliatory measures targeting the UN Mission for Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), adding that Rabat represents a threat to the North African region.
 
In a statement issued Wednesday, COPESA expressed "extreme concern" over Morocco's decision to expel 87 members of the UN mission.

U.N. REQUESTS GOVERNMENT OF MOROCCO TO COMPLY WITH ITS INTERNATIONAL LEGAL OBLIGATIONS
