President of Republic oversees Constitutional Council members’ appointment

Chahid EL-Hafed (Saharawi refugee camps), June 23, 2016 (SPS) -The President of the Republic and Interim Secretary of the Frente POLISARIO, Mr. Khatri Adduh, oversaw today at the headquarters of the presidency, the appointment of members the Constitutional Council, in the presence of members of the National Secretariat, the Parliament, the government and the Liberation Army.

Saharawi refugees: UNHCR to call on international donors July 12 in Geneva

Algiers, June 22, 2016 (SPS) - United nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) representative in Algeria intends to call on international donors on July 12, in Geneva, for support to Saharawi refugees, according to the UN representative in Algeria.
The announcement was made Monday evening on the occasion of the International Refugee Day, marked in Algiers by a fast-breaking meal at the Palace of Culture, in the presence of African refugees and humanitarian partners.

President of Republic condemns "strongly" the assassination of British MP Joe Cox

Bir Lehlou, June 21,  2016 (SPS) - President of the Sahrawi Republic,  Secretary-General of Frente POLISARIO, Mr. Khatri Adouh has strongly condemned the assassination of British MP Joe Cox.
 
It was with great sadness and consternation that the Sahrawi people and the Frente POLISARIO learnt about the untimely death of MP Jo Cox.

Humanitarian aid to Sahrawi refugees: Donor countries to meet in Geneva in July

Algiers, June 19, 2016 (SPS) - The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) will hold, in July in Geneva, a meeting of the donor countries to support the humanitarian aid to the refugees of Western Sahara, said this UN agency.
“UNHCR will hold a meeting on 12 July 2016 in Geneva to call on the financial backers to contribute to the financing of the humanitarian aid for the Sahrawi refugees,” the representative of this agency in Algeria Hamdi Bukhari told APS on the eve of the celebration of the  World Refugee Day.

Morocco seeks to end peace process, says Boukhari

Washington, June 19, 2016 (SPS) - Morocco has chosen the course of confrontation with the international community to end the United Nations-led peace process, said Polisario Front's Representative to the UN Ahmed Boukhari.
In his address at the session of the Special Committee on Decolonization, held in New York on Friday, Boukhari said that the colonizing power has chosen the option of confrontation with the international community to end the peace process and push the region into the worst-case scenarios.

Sahrawi cause records diplomatic victory at UN

Washington, June 19, 2016 (SPS) - The Sahrawi cause has recorded Friday “a diplomatic victory” at the United Nations (UN) with “the definitive recognition of the Polisario Front as the only legitimate representative of the Sahrawi people,” said the representative of the Polisaio Front at UN Ahmed Boukhari.

UN Security Council, Secretariat review progress in discussions on MINURSO return

Washington, June 19, 2016 (SPS) -The United Nations Security Council reviewed with the Secretariat the progress achieved in discussions with Moroccan authorities on return of the MINURSO's civil staff expelled by Morocco in last March.
However, no information on this meeting, held behind closed doors upon request from Venezuela, has been given.
Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Hervé Ladsous Hervé Ladsous informed the Security Council of progress in discussions held with the Moroccan government on the civil staff of the MINURSO.
