AU recommends African mechanism for Sahrawi people self-determination

Nouakchott (Mauritania), July 2, 2018 (SPS) - The setting up of an African mechanism to enable the African Union to provide "efficient support" to the UN-led process, based on the UN Security Council resolutions, in order to reach self-determination of Western Sahara people has been recommended Sunday in Nouakchott by the AU Commission president Moussa Faki.
Faki made this recommendation in his report on Western Sahara question, APS obtained a copy on the occasion of the 31st Summit of the AU Heads of State and Government.

President of Republic partakes in 31st AU Summit in Nouakchott

Nouakchott (Mauritania) -The 31st Summit of the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government kicked off Sunday in Nouakchott (Mauritania) with the participation of President of Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali.
The Summit is themed “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa's Transformation.”

President of Republic holds talks with his Mauritanian counterpart in Nouakchott

Nouakchott, June 30, 2018 (SPS) – Upon his arrival at Oumtounsy International Airport in the Mauritanian Capital, Nouakchott, the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, held separate talks, on Saturday at the presidential wing at the airport, with Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz,.
The talks, which later included members of the two delegations, discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and African integration.

ASVDH holds meeting with UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara

El Aaiún (occupied territories), June 30, 2018 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Association of Victims of Grave Human Rights Violations Committed by the Moroccan State (ASVDH), held Friday a meeting UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, Horst Köhler, at the headquarters of MINURSO in El Aaiún, the occupied capital of Western Sahara.
The meeting was attended by ASVDH members of the Executive Bureau, and Colin Stewart, UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for Western Sahara, Head of MINURSO, according to ASVDH statement.

Koehler arrives to occupied Aaiun: the occupied city is under a tight security blockade

Occupied Aaiun, June 28, 2018 (SPS) -The UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy to the Western Sahara, Horst Koehler, has arrived to the  occupied city of El Aaiun on Thursday as part of a tour to the region.
According to Sahrawi human rights sources, Mr. Kohler arrived to the occupied city of El Aaiun on UN plane, amid an army and police deployment in uniform, a civilian and police intelligence personnel in all the streets of El Aaiun.

Brahim Gali: Talks with Kohler on implementing Security Council’s recommendation were “honest”

Chahid El Hafed (Sahrawi Refugee Camps), June 28, 2018 (SPS) - Sahrawi President, Secretary General of the Frente POLISAIO Brahim Gali affirmed Tuesday, at the headquarters of the Sahrawi Presidency in Chahid El Hafedh, that his talks with the United Nations Secretary General’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara Horst Kohler were “honest” concerning the implementation of the recommendation of the Security Council made in April 2018.
