Western Sahara conflict to be resolved in line with UN’s resolutions

New York (United States), 2 August 2024 (SPS) - The resolution of the Western Sahara conflict will be carried out “in line with the Security Council’s resolutions,” the spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Stephane Dujarric, underscored.

In a statement to the press on Tuesday in New York, Dujarric said that “the United Nations' efforts to resolve the conflict in Western Sahara will carry on in line with the Security Council’s resolutions.”

President of Republic meets delegations participating in investiture ceremony of Mauritanian President

Nouakchott, August 02, 2024 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, met some delegations participating in the investiture ceremony of the Mauritanian President-elect Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.

In this context, the President of the Republic met with the Algerian Prime Minister Mr. Nadir Larbaoui, the Malian delegation, in addition to the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki.

Sahrawi Republic Deposits Instrument of Ratification for the ACRWC Protocol

Addis Ababa (African Union) 31 July 2024 (SPS)- The Permanent Representative of the Sahrawi Republic to the African Union, Mr. Lamin Baali, has deposited the instrument of ratification for the Protocol to the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child. The document was handed over to the Legal Advisor of the African Union, Ms. Hagar Queldich, in the presence of several members of her office and Mr. Aman Sidi Abdallah, Counselor from the Sahrawi embassy in Addis Ababa.

Addis Ababa (African Union), July 31, 2024 (SPS) – The Permanent Representative of the Sahrawi Republic to the African Union, Amb. Lamin Baali, in his capacity as Dean of the North African Group, deposited the candidacy file for Algeria’s nominee for the position of Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission. The elections for the leadership of the Union are scheduled to take place during the summit in February 2025.

France's support of alleged "autonomy plan" in Western Sahara: Algerian Government withdraws ambassador to France

Algiers, July 30, 2024 (SPS)-The Algerian government has decided to withdraw its ambassador to the French Republic, with immediate effect, and the diplomatic representation to France is now the responsibility of the chargé d'affaires, following France's recognition of Morocco's "autonomy plan" as the "only basis" for resolving the Western Sahara conflict as part of the Morocco's alleged sovereignty, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad said Tuesday in a statement.

Shaheed Al-Hafid, July 30, 2024, (SPS) - The Permanent Bureau of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front strongly condemned, in a communiqué that concluded its meeting today, the recent French position that openly supports the expansionist war of the unjust Moroccan occupation against the Sahrawi people, which aims to deprive the Sahrawi people of exercising their inalienable right to self-determination and independence, which is guaranteed by all international charters and laws and recognized by all bodies, especially the United Nations.

Brihim Ghali chairs meeting of National Secretariat Office

Shaheed Alhafed, July 29, 2024 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, chaired today, Monday, a meeting of the Permanent Office of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front.  

The meeting discussed presentations and reports on the general situation (military, political, diplomatic and security) as well as management and service aspects.

The meeting of the National Secretariat Office also discussed the evaluation of the summer program and future work prospects.

CNASPS condemns France’s backing of Morocco’s Western Sahara autonomy plan

Algiers, 29 July 2024 (SPS) -  The Algerian National Committee for Solidarity with the Sahrawi People (CNASPS) voiced its outrage on Monday regarding France’s “shameful” backing of the so-called Moroccan autonomy plan for Western Sahara, denouncing a “serious violation” of international law.

“The members of the Algerian National Committee for Solidarity with the Sahrawi People (CNASPS) learned with indignation of the French decision that officially backs Morocco’s autonomy plan for Western Sahara,” CNASPS said in a statement.

International federation of journalists supporting Sahrawi People condemns France's support for Moroccan plan

Algiers, 29 July 2024 (SPS) - The International Federation of Journalists in Solidarity with the Saharawi People on Monday vigorously condemned the French government's decision to support Morocco's "so-called autonomy plan" on Western Sahara, a territory on the UN list of non-self-governing territories since 1963.

"The International Federation of Journalists in solidarity with the Saharawi People vigorously condemns the decision of France to support the so-called autonomy plan proposed by Morocco for Western Sahara," she wrote in a statement.

Maltese group of solidarity calls on government to keep supporting self-determination in Western Sahara Conflict

Valletta, (Malta) 29 July 2024 (SPS)- Maltese group of solidarity with the Sahrawi people, “Maltese for Sahrawis", advocated for the need of support to the Sahrawi people in their quest for self-determination in a petition sent by the group to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malta this month.

The petition, titled "Supporting a Solution in Western Sahara Based On Human Rights, International Law and Self-Determination," reflected Maltese public opinion’s significant support and placed renewed attention on the plight of the Sahrawi people.
