Security Council should handle Western Sahara issue with responsibility

Algiers, 23 October 2021 (SPS) - The risk of escalation in the conflict between the Moroccan regime and the Polisario Front is serious, and the UN Security Council should more than ever handle Western Sahara issue with clarity and responsibility, as what is at stake is peace and stability in the sub-region, Ambassador Amar Belani, the special envoy for Western Sahara issue and Maghreb countries, said Friday.

Washington, Oct 20, 2021 (SPS) - The US Senate Appropriations Committee passed a resolution prohibiting the State Department from using its financial appropriations to establish or operate a consulate in Western Sahara.
This important decision comes to embody the United States Congress's rejection of Trump's announcement of alleged Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara in exchange for Morocco officially recognizing Israel.

Occupied Dakhla, Oct 19, 2021 (SPS) - The Saharawi Oil and Mining authority, denounced the signature by Morocco, represented by the Moroccan National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM), of a agreement with the Israeli oil company Ratio Petroleum to explore the Atlantic bloc of the occupied city of Dakhla.
"This agreement represents a new stage in the series of economic crimes perpetrated by Morocco in the occupied Sahrawi territories," said a statement from the said NGO.

SADR denounces Israeli-Moroccan oil agreement

Dakhla (Occupied Territories)- Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR)'s oil and mines authority has denounced the signing by Rabat, represented by the Moroccan National Office for Hydrocarbons and Mines, of an agreement with Israeli oil company Ratio Petroleum on the exploration of the Atlantic block of the occupied Sahrawi city of Dakhla.
"The agreement is a new step in the series of economic crimes perpetrated by Morocco in the occupied Saharawi territories," the Saharawi oil and mining authority said in a statement.

SPLA targets positions of Moroccan occupation forces in several sectors

Bir Lahlou, 18 October 2021 (SPS) - Units of the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army (SPLA) launched intensive attacks targeting the Moroccan occupation forces' entrenchment in the sectors of Al-Mahbas, Al-Farsiah, Al-Bakari and Um Adreka, according to military communiqué No. 340 of the Ministry of National Defense.
The communiqué stated that "advanced detachments of SPLA shelled the occupation soldiers in the area of Umaytir Mukhainza, specifically the headquarters of the 43rd Legion in Al-Mahbas sector."

Chinese company announces end to phosphate exploitation in occupied Western Sahara

Beijing, 16 October 2021 (SPS) - The Chinese phosphate company "Molybdenum" announced in a message to the Western Sahara Resource Watch (WSRW) that it has definitively renounced the acquisition of pillaged phosphate rock from occupied Western Sahara.
In 2020, the Observatory tracked the trucks that transported the phosphate rock from the port of Santos (Brazil) to a closed industrial zone, the WSRW said in a statement published on its website.
