Morocco-EU agreement: EP "ignores ECJ decisions and approves illegal agreement"

Bruxelles, Jan 17, 2019 (SPS) – The European Parliament vote during a plenary session held on Wednesday in Strasbourg, on the EU-Morocco agreement including the products from Western Sahara are an "act of utter treachery" which breaches the decisions of the European Court of Justice which ruled on the "distinct" and "separate" aspect of Western Sahara territory, said a diplomatic source in Brussels.

Algiers, Jan 15, 2019 (SPS) - In a joint statement issued at the conclusion of a working visit to Algeria by the South African Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. Ms. Lindyou Sisulu, the two countries emphasized the need to end colonialism in Western Sahara and allow the Saharawi people to exercise their right to self-determination.
The declaration emphasizes that Morocco, after its admission to the AU, is obliged to respect the principles and objectives enshrined in the Constitutive Act of the Union.

UN: 7 million mines threaten Sahrawis’ life

Bir Lahlou, January 14, 2019 (SPS) - Saharawi President Ibrahim Ghali said that the destruction of the last stockpile of mines owned by the Polisario Front was a proof of "its good intention" and compliance with its commitment to the Geneva Call Organization in November 2005.
In this regard, Ghali claimed that over 7 million mines were still buried all along the military wall built by Morocco (wall of shame) and cause huge damage to the Sahrawi civilians.

UN denies Morocco’s allegations regarding ceasefire violation

New York, January 14, 2019 (SPS) - The United Nations denied Morocco’s allegations regarding the ceasefire violations by the Polisario Front, stating that the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) has not recorded any incident which may constitute a violation to the terms of applicable agreements.

The 2rd meeting of the committee deals with the major issues related to the work of the committee, especially the AU strategy on raw materials and the strategy of the Union to facilitate intra-trade and enhance the role of small and medium enterprises in enhancing the economies of African countries.

Occupied Aaiun , Jan 09, 2019 (SPS) - The Moroccan occupation forces, with their various police apparatuses , have violently cracked down Sahrawi demonstrators, most of whom were Sahrawi unemployed cadres who went out to peacefully demonstrate in the occupied towns of Aaiun and Smara leaving casualties.

Ait Melloul (Morocco), Jan 09, 2019 (SPS) - The prison administration repeatedly prevented the visit to Sidahmed Lemjeyid, a Saharawi political prisoner, currently detained in the Moroccan prison of Ait Melloul 2, according to information received from the family.

USA Congress does not recognize the pretended sovereignty of Morocco over Western Sahara

Washington, Jan 09, 2019 (SPS) - The House of Representatives of the United States approved a bill that excludes Western Sahara from financial aid for the year 2019 destined for Morocco in the budget of public expenditure, unlike In recent years, particularly in 2018, an American position confirms that Morocco has no sovereignty over Western Sahara.
The bill establishes that aid to Western Sahara is completely separate from that directed to Morocco, and clearly refers to Western Sahara as a political entity distinct from that of Morocco. "

Bouzakarn (Morocco), Jan 08 2019 (SPS) - The Association for the Protection of Sahrawi Prisoners in Moroccan Prisons expressed its deep concern over the grave and inhumane situation of the Sahrawi political prisoner Mohamed Tahlil.
The Association highlighted that the Sahrawi political detainee, a member of the Gdeim Izik group Mohamed Tahlil jailed in solitary confinement in the southern Moroccan prison of Bouzkarn, is still isolated from the outside world and deprived of the most basic rights despite his "deteriorating health" status.

Moroccan police expels two Spanish citizens from Western Sahara

Occupied Aaiun, Jan 02, 2018 (SPS) - The Moroccan Police has expelled two Spanish citizens from the territory of Western Sahara, one of the two affected, Irati Tobar, explained by telephone from Agadir, according to Spanish daily information 20 minutos.es
The expulsion took place on December 31 in a house of a Saharawi family in El Aaiún, and told them to pick up their luggage and leave the territory.
