Geneva, March 23, 2019 (SPS) - UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Western Sahara Horst Kohler affirmed Friday, in Geneva, that Western Sahara’s people “need and deserve that this conflict ends,” insisting on reaching a “compromise.”

Paris, March 23, 2019 (SPS) - Representative of the Polisario Front to France Oubi Boucheraya Bachir affirmed that the progress of the negotiations between Morocco and the Polisario Front, which started Thursday in Geneva, under the aegis of the United Nations on the settlement of the Sahrawi conflict, depends on the willingness of the Moroccan occupation regime to respect the United Nations’ resolutions guaranteeing the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination.

Bir Lehlu (SADR Liberated Territories), March 14, 2019 (SPS) - the President of the Republic, Brahim Gali, sent Tuesday messages to the presidents of Mozambique and Zimbabwe, SSEE Filipe Nyussi and Emmerson Mnangagwa, in which he expressed his deep sorrow for the victims of cyclone Idai that hit those African nations.
The Saharawi leader transmitted on behalf of the Government and the Saharawi people their support and fraternal and unconditional solidarity to the victims and the relatives of the victims.

Sahrawi political prisoner Mohamed Bourial starts unlimited hunger strike

Tiflet (Morocco), March 18, 2019 (SPS) - Sahrawi political prisoner of Gdeim Izik group, Mohamed Bourial, has announced at Tiflet 2 prison, east of Rabat, that he will initiated an unlimited hunger as from Wednesday. 
According to the Association for the Protection of Sahrawi Prisoners, the hunger strike comes in protest against the harsh conditions of detention

Moroccan forces use violence against Sahrawi pupil

Gdeim Izik Group begin an alarming hunger strike in several Moroccan prisons

El Aaiún (Occupied capital of Western Sahara), March 12, 2019 (SPS) - The political prisoners of the Gdeim Izik Group have announced on Monday that they will begin a simultaneous alarming hunger strike in several Moroccan prisons in protest of their continued arbitrary detention and the miserable and inhumane conditions.
According to sources close to the families of these prisoners, the hunger strike is the beginning of a series of battles to demand an end to the suffering of their families with the unconditional release of Saharawi prisoners.

President of Republic expresses condolences to President of Republic of Kenya

“On behalf of the people and government of Sahrawi Republic, I would like to express my deepest and most sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims of this tragic crash, and the Kenyan people as a whole,” said the president of the Republic.

Second round table on 21-22 March in Geneva

New York, March 10, 2019 (SPS) - UN Special Envoy for Western Sahara Horst Kohler will invite the parties to the conflict and neighboring countries for a new round table in Geneva, scheduled for 21-22 March, said Saturday sources close to the issue.
Like the previous round table, held in December in the same Swiss city, the second meeting will also last two days.
The parties haven’t received yet the invitations confirming officially the date and place of this meeting, according to the sources.

Moroccan forces use violence against Sahrawi women in occupied El-Aaiun

El-Aaiun (Occupied Territories), March 9, 2019 (SPS) - Moroccan forces on Friday intervened violently against Sahrawi women who went out to demonstrate in the occupied capital  of Western Sahara, El-Aaiun, on International Women's Day.
The occupation forces have besieged Sahrawi women in the area of the so-called Colomina before they intervened violently, which led to many casualties among some of them with serious injuries.
Morocco has a black record in targeting Sahrawi women and violating their rights. (SPS)
