Kingstown (Saint Vincent and the Grenadines), May 17, 2017 (SPS) - The Frente  POLISARIO Representative to the UN, Bujari Ahmed, invited by the UN Special Committee on Decolonization, has took part Tuesday at the Regional Seminar on decolonization, held this year in the Caribbean, in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, with the purpose of examining the situation in the Territories under colonial or foreign domination.

EU won’t fund Morocco’s renewable energy projects in Western Sahara

Minister of Foreign Affairs makes appointments at diplomatic corps level

Shahid El-Hafedh, May 15, 2017 (SPS) Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Salek made Sunday appointments at level of the diplomatic corps, in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 8 / 2017.
On the basis of the powers under Presidential Decree No. 14/2012 of 22 September 2012 governing diplomatic work by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in particular Article 02, the Minister of Foreign Affairs decides as follows:

Shaheed El-Hafed, May 15, 2017 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, undertook Sunday some reshuffles at the level of the diplomatic corps, according to a decree of the Presidency of the Republic.
"By Presidential Decree No. 08/2017 and in accordance with the powers conferred upon it by the Constitution of the Republic, in particular Article 58, the President of the Republic enacts as follows:

Western Sahara: ECJ decision, "mandatory" for EU, member states, says Belani

Paris (France), May 15, 2017 (SPS) – The decision of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) which excludes Western Sahara territories from the EU-Morocco trade agreements is "mandatory" for both the European Commission and its member states, said Algeria's ambassador to Brussels, Amar Belani, in reaction to reports that the European Commission had requested the Union’s approval for a new negotiating mandate with a view to "adjusting" certain provisions of the agreements.

Sahrawis in Belgium celebrate 44th anniversary of Polisario Front creation

POLISARIO participates in the Congress of the Danish Red-Green Alliance Party

Copenhagen (Denmark) 14 May, 2017 (SPS) - Upon official invitation, the POLISARIO Front representative in Denmark, Mr. Abba Malainin, has participated in the annual Congress of the Red-Green Alliance Party convened in the capital, Copenhagen from 12 to 14 May 2017.
The Danish party has traditional unwavering supporting stand with regard to the right of the people of Western Sahara to self-determination, independence, the respect of human rights in Western Sahara and defends also the right of the Saharawi people sovereignty over their natural resources.

President of Republic condemns aggressive behavior of Morocco in Sahrawi liberated territories

"strongly condemned" the new aggressive behavior through the presence of the Moroccan forces at 50 kilometers outside the buffer zone, in the territorial waters of Western Sahara between Guerguerat and Lagouira, southwestern Western Sahara, in violation of the 1991 ceasefire agreement no. 1 and the supplementary convention of 1997 signed between the Polisario Front and Morocco under the auspices of the UN.

Western Sahara remains a "Non-Self-Governing Territories"

Brussels, May 10, 2017 (SPS) – Western Sahara status remains that of a "non-self-governing territories," said EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini, reiterating the EU support to the efforts of the UN Secretary-General in order to reach a solution that will allow "the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara."
 

Fourth ordinary session of the Pan-African Parliament begins in Midrand

The session, attended by 54 states of the continent, had as guests of honor the presidents of Malawi, S.E. Prof. Arthur P. Mutharika, and Burkina Faso, S.E. Roch Mark Christian Kabore.

POLISARIO Front takes part at Norwegian Trade Unions Confederation 34th Congress

Oslo, Norway, 09 May 2017 (SPS) - the representative of the Frente POLISARIO in Norway, Dr. Limam Khalil, has attended the 34th Congress of the Norwegian Trade Union Confederation (NFTU), which started on Monday in Oslo.
 
Delegates representing more than 35 countries, as well as many international trade union organizations, will attend the conference. The conference is expected to endorse the position of the Confederation of Norwegian Trade Unions on a number of international issues, including the issue of decolonization in Western Sahara.

President of Republic receives Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister

Shaheed El-Hafed (Refugee Camps), 8 May 2017 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, received Monday afternoon Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Marcelino Medina Gonzalez, at end of his visit to Saharawi Republic.
After the meeting, Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister reiterated his country's position in support of the Sahrawi people's struggle and their right to self-determination and independence.

Sahrawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik appear before Salé court

Rabat (Morocco) 8 May 2017 (SPS) - The first session of the trial of Sahrawi political prisoners, Gdeim Izik, opened Monday, at the Moroccan Court of appeal in Salé, within the framework of the fourth round of their trial.
Since the early hours of Monday morning, the Moroccan authorities have brought dozens of thugs who have intimidated the families of the prisoners and their supporters in an attempt to disrupt their peaceful and civilized demands.

Lisbon (Portugal), 8 May 2017 (SPS) - Sahrawi human rights activist Aminatou Haidar took part in the honor ceremony dedicated to the memory of Portuguese left-wing fighter Miguel Portas, on its fifth anniversary held Saturday in Lisbon, according to a Saharawi diplomatic source.
On this occasion, the Sahrawi activist made press briefings with Portuguese media, received by the vice-president of the Portuguese Parliament and met with most European parliamentary groups and eminent personalities of the Portuguese civil society participating in this event.
