New vigils against companies involved in Saharawi natural resources’ plunder

Dajla (refugee camps), March 18, 2015 (SPS) - The citizens of the Wilaya of Dajla, Saharawi refugee camps, on Tuesday staged several vigils in protest to the foreign companies involved in the ongoing pillaging of the natural resource of occupied Western Sahara, in conspiracy with Moroccan occupation.

President of Republic offers condolences on death of Al-Wali Ahmed Lakhfaouni

Bir Lehlou (liberated zones), March 17, 2015 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Frente Polisario, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, on Tuesday sent a condolence letter to the Saharawi political prisoner, Abdallahi Lakhfaouni, following the passing away of his father, Al-Wali Ahmed Lakhfaouni.

Campaign to put pressure on Security Council to hold self-determination referendum in Western Sahara

London, March 17, 2015 (SPS) - The NGO Western Sahara Action Forum (WSAF) has launched a campaign to sign a petition for the release of Saharawi political prisoners and the holding of the referendum on self-determination of the people of Western Sahara.


In this regard, the NGO called for putting pressure on the United Nations Security Council to quickly deal with the situation in Western Sahara, for the release of Saharawi political prisoners, as well as the organization, this year, of the self-determination referendum for the Saharawi people.

Preparatory political conferences for women congress kicked off

Dajla (refugee camps), March 17, 2015 (SPS) - The preparatory political conferences for the 7th congress of the National Union of Saharawi Woman (UNMS) on Monday kicked off in all municipalities of the Wilaya of Dajla, Saharawi refugee camps.


Several documents were be put for discussion at these conferences, including of which legal regulation, draft basic law of the organizations and draft action programme among others.

Ecuador renews support to self-determination and independence of Saharawi people

Algiers, March 17, 2015 (SPS) - The Ecuadorian Ambassador in Algiers, Mr. Jose Rafael Serrano Herrera, on Tuesday reiterated his country’s support to the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence.


In a meeting with the Saharawi ambassador Brahim Ghali, Herrera voiced Ecuador’s solidarity and support to right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence.


The meeting examined the close cooperation relations that ink the two countries and peoples.

New film about Western Sahara resistance produced

ANC reaffirms support to Saharawi people struggle for independence

19th International Seminar calls for expansion of MINURSO mandate

 Mexico City, March 16, 2015 (SPS) More than 138 organizations and representatives of political parties of the left and progressive worldwide have unanimously adopted a resolution calling for the expansion of the mandate of MINURSO for the Protection of Human Rights in Western Sahara, during the closure of the 19th International Seminar organised by the Mexican labor party, held from 12 to 14 March 2015 in Mexico.

 

Demonstration in Geneva demanding protection of human rights in Western Sahara

Geneva, March 16, 2015 (SPS) The Saharawi community in Europe organized on the sidelines of the 28th Session of the United Nations Council of Human Rights in Geneva a demonstration to demand the protection of human rights in Western Sahara, said a statement of the Polisario Front representation in Switzerland.

 

The demonstrators held banners and chanted slogans calling for the respect of human rights in Western Sahara and extension of the mandate of MINURSO (UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara) to this mission.

 

United Nations denies participation to Crans Montana Forum

New York (U.S.A.), March 16, 2015 (SPS) - The United Nations (UN) denied, Saturday, its participation to the Crans Montana Forum which is currently taking place in Dakhla in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

 

In a note addressed to press correspondents, the UN said that its Secretary General “was invited to this Forum but informed its President that he could not attend” and that “he did not delegate Mr. Philippe Douste-Blazy or anyone else to represent him or the United Nations.”

 

ANC denied any participation in Forum Crans Montana

Pretoria, 15/03/2015 (SPS).- The African National Congress has denied having sent any delegation to participate in the Forum Crans Montana organized by Morocco in the occupied city of Dakhla, in Western Sahara

 

“The African National Congress has no contact or cooperation with Crans Montana.   We never received an invitation to participate in their forum in the occupied city of Dakhla in Western Sahara or Morocco” said, in a letter, Ribbon Mosholi, Manager International Relations in ANC.

 

UN refutes participation in Crans Montana Forum (press release)

New York, March 14, 2015 (SPS) - The United Nations refuted in a press release issued on Saturday, its participation in the "Crans-Montana" forum held in the occupied city of Dakhla, in response to some press reports which indicated that the personal advisor to the Secretary-General on innovative financing Mr. Philippe Douste-Blazy, participates in the Forum on behalf of the United Nations.

 

 

Moroccan occupation forces repress peaceful demonstration of unemployed Sahrawis

El Aaiun (Occupied Territories), March 14, 2015 (SPS) -  The Moroccan occupation forces repressed  Friday a peaceful demonstration organized by unemployed Sahrawis in the occupied city of El Aaiun, said to the Ministry of Occupied Territories and community Abroad.

 

 The demonstrators demanded their legitimate rights of working and living in peace and enabling the Sahrawi people of its right to self-determination through free and fair referendum.

 

SADR and PF welcome boycott of international bodies to Crans Montana Forum

Saharawi political prisoner Mbarek Daudi begins unlimited hunger strike open

Ait Malul (Morocco), March 15, 2015 (SPS) - Saharawi political prisoner Mbarek Daudi began Thursday unlimited hunger strike after his transfer to the Moroccan prison of Ait Malul, according to a Sahrawi human rights source.

 

The source added that the hunger strike is to denounce the brutal transfer after being sentenced by the Court of Guleimim to three months in prison and a fine estimated at one thousand Dirhams.

 

Polisario Front condemns Zapatero visit to occupied city of Dakhla

Las Palmas, March15, 2015 (SPS) - The Polisario Front representation in the Canary Islands expressed the strongest condemnation and rejection to the vist of former Spanish Prime José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero to the city of Dakhla to attend the Crans Montana Forum that major international organizations refused to attend.

 

Political prisoner Mbarek Daoudi transferred to Eit Melloul Prison

Guleimim (Morocco), March 12, 2015 (SPS) - Moroccan occupying authorities have transferred from Guleimim to Eit Melloul prison the Saharawi political prisoner, Mbarek Daoudi, said the Collective of Saharawi Human Rights Defenders (CODESA).


Such move proves that Moroccan authorities will continue to detain Mbarek Daoudi, who was sentenced to three months of imprisonment.


On this occasion, CODESA expressed fear for the fate awaiting the prisoner. (SPS)
