Saharawi people celebrates Eid al-Adha divided by occupation

Saharawi refugee camps, October 28, 2012 (SPS) - The Saharawi people has celebrated, like all Islamic peoples, the blessed Eid al-Adha amid incomplete joy due to the state of occupation and refuge they have been experiencing since over three decades.


Eid sermons pointed to the bitter situation faced by the Saharawi people in the occupied territories and refugee camps, in addition to the grave human rights violations committed by Moroccan occupying forces against the unarmed Saharawi civilians in occupied Western Sahara.

President sends message to his Algerian counterpart on occasion of Eid Al-Adha

Bir Lehlu(Liberated Territories), Oct 26, 2012 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of Frente Polisario, Mohamed Abdelaziz, has congratulated his Algerian counterpart, Abdelaziz Buteflica, on the occasion of Eid Adha.

 

 "On the occasion of of Eid Al-Adha, it gives me great pleasure to extend to Your Excellency, the government and people of Algeria, my warmest and sincere congratulations, praying and asking Allah peace and prosperity for humanity" wrote the President of Republic in congratulatory message to the Algerian counterpart.

President of Republic demands end of "arbitrary" detention of Saharawi political prisoners of Izik Gdeim

Bir Lahlou (liberated territories), October 25, 2012 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of Frente Polisario,Mohamed Abdelaziz Wednesday called on United Nations Secretary General  Ban Ki-moon to intervene "urgently" to put an end to Morocco's disregard for international law.

 

In his letter UN Secretary General, President of the Republic demanded immediate and unconditional release of the Saharawi political prisoners incarcerated in the prison of Salé 2 and all the others who are still languishing in Moroccan prisons.

 

President Mohamed Abdelaziz meets Irish Minster for Foreign Affairs

Dublin, Oct 25, 2012 (SPS) -President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Frente Polisario, Mohamed Abdelaziz held talks with leader of the largest opposition party in Ireland "Fianna Fáil", Michael Martin, hailing the party’s strong support for the struggle of Saharawi people.

 

During the meeting, President Mohamed Abdelaziz expressed his joy to meet Michael Martin as "leader of a political party friend of the Saharawi people", praising its position in favor of the legitimate struggle of the Saharawi people for freedom and independence.

 

UN Special Rapporteur on Torture asserts Morocco uses torture against Saharawi civilians

New York, Oct, 2012 (SPS) - UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, Juan Mendez,  said yesterday before UN Security Council that Morocco uses excessive torture against human rights defenders and political prisoners in Western Sahara.        

 

"There is a lot of evidence of excessive use of force," said Juan Mendez to reporters after representing his report before UN Security Council  .

 

Trial of Saharawi political prisoners “Gdeim Izik Group” postponed

Sale (Morocco), Oct 24, 2012 (SPS) - Moroccan authorities of occupation have postponed today for an indefinite date the military trial of 24 Saharawi political political prisoners arbitrarily arrested on the ground of Gdeim Izik camp in 2010.

 

The source indicated that the Moroccan state provided no legal justification and has offered no opportunity to Saharawi political dprisoners to appear before a court to deny the alleged accusations against them.

Dublin, Oct 24, 2012 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of Frente Polisario , Mohamed Abdelaziz was received Wednesday by his Irish counterpart, Michael D. Higgins, according to a source close to the presidential delegation.

 

President D. Higgins offered welcoming ceremony in honor of  his Saharawi counterpart in which he expressed joy for having a Saharawi delegation in Ireland.

 

Mohamed Cheikh Lehabib re-elected as head of UGTSARIO

Boujdour (refugee camps), Oct 24, 2012 (SPS) - Mohamed Cheikh Lehabib was re-elected yesterday as Secretary General of the Saharawi Union of Workers (UGTSARIO), announced yesterday the electoral commission of the 7th Congress of the 'UGTSARIO.

 

“The elections process were well organized and transparent”, underlined the commission , adding that "Labda Kaziza, Galuha Brahim, Ahmuda Hamdi, Fatma Hmadi, Mohammed Abd El Fattah were also elected as members of the Executive Board of  UGTSARIO".

 

President of Republic arrives in Ireland on special visit

Dublin, Oct 24, 2012 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of the POLISARIO Front, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, arrived Tuesday evening in Dublin on a special visit to Ireland officially starts Wednesday.


According to the visit programme, the President will hold talks with senior Irish officials, political parties and trade unions, in addition he will visit some institutions.

End Human Rights Violations against the People of Western Sahara (petition)

New York, Oct 22, 2012 (SPS) – the Spanish Oscar winner Javier Bardem and  President of the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, Kerry Kennedy have launched online petition calling on the President of the United States to lead efforts to add a human rights mandate to the UN Peacekeeping mission in Western Sahara.

 

The petition emphasized that  United States must take action against the human rights violations facing the Sahrawi people living in occupied  Western Sahara.

Boujdour (Refugee Camps), Oct 22, 2012 (SPS) - Foreign delegations taking part at the works of the 7th Congress of the Saharawi Workers Union (UGTSARIO) reaffirmed their strong support for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence.

 

Speaking at the 7th congress of UGTSARIO, the in charge  of Foreign Relations at the Algerian  Labor Union , Bitich Ahmed, has expressed solidarity with Saharawi Workers.

 

Head of MINORSO received by Algerian Minister for Maghreb and African Affairs

Algiers, Oct 22, 2012 (SPS) - Algerian Minister for Maghreb and African Affairs Abdelkader Messahel received Monday in Algiers  the  United Nations Secretary-General’s special representative and head of the UN Mission for the referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) Wolfgang Weisbro-Weber.

 

The meeting took place of at the Algerian ministry of Foreign Affairs.
