Boujdour (refugee camps), Oct 24, 2012 (SPS) - The sixth trade union conference of solidarity with the Saharawi people was held yesterday morning, Tuesday, at the Wilaya of Boujdour on the sidelines of work of the 7th Congress of Saharawi Workers Union (UGTSARIO).

The sixth conference brought together representatives of various trade unions from Africa, Europe, Latin America and Asia.

Addressing the conference, the Saharawi Minister of Cooperation Mr. Brahim Moukhtar Boumakhrouta summed up the latest developments concerning the Western Sahara question, especially after the UN Personal Envoy Christopher Ross returned to his task, global economic crisis and its impact on humanitarian situation in the Saharawi Refugee Camps, plundering of Saharawi natural resources by Morocco and efforts of the POLISARIO Front to aware about the Saharawi matter.

Petitioners at the conference expressed solidarity with the struggle and right of the Saharawi people to self-determination, calling Morocco to allow the international delegations and observers to enter the occupied Saharawi territories to assess the situation on the ground.

They also condemned the flagrant looting of Western Sahara natural wealth, voicing solidarity with the Saharawi political prisoners, especially the 24 prisoners of Gdeim Izik who expected to be brought before a Moroccan military trail today.

At the end, participants of the conference agreed to hold the next conference in Abjua, capital of Nigeria. (SPS)
