Trial of Gdeim Izik group postponed by one week

Rabat, July 12, 2017. (SPS) - The trial of the Saharawi political prisoners of the Gdeim Izik group has been postponed Tuesday to July 18 for the sixth consecutive time, media reported.
The sixth and final phase of the trial of the twenty-four Saharawi political prisoners started in the morning at the Criminal Chamber attached to annexe of the Court of Appeal in Sale (Morocco).

Sahrawi students in Agadir renew their solidarity with Sahrawi political prisoners

Agadir (Morocco), July 11, 2017 (SPS) – Sahrawi students at the Moroccan university site "Agadir" organized a march,  largest of its kind in five years. It included more than 140 Sahrawi students who gathered on Sunday evening in the university district, according to a media source from the occupied territories.

Bir-Lehlu, July 10, 2017 (SPS) -  President of Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, sent a congratulatory message to President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of South Sudan Independence Day.
“On behalf of the Saharawi People and on my own behalf, I extend sincere congratulations on your 6th anniversary South Sudan Independence Day. I wish you and the people of South Sudan happiness, continued success and prosperity,” said the President of the Republic.

Sahrawi government hails AU's commitment to contribute to resolution of Morocco-Polisario Front conflict

Algiers, July 10, 2017 (SPS) - Saharawi Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Essalek hailed the decision taken by the African Union (AU) to revive African mechanisms aiming to help resolve the conflict between Morocco and the Saharawi Republic, stressing that the recent positions of the organization taken last week during the summit in Addis Ababa were "judicious and logical.
He advocated the respect of the legitimate rights of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence.

Cuba awards baccalaureate students university study

Shaheed El-Hafed, July 10, 2017 (SPS) - The Republic of Cuba has awarded the opportunity to study at the university to the 2017 baccalaureate students of national school Simon Bolivar in Sahrawi refugee camps.
“This step comes as a fruitful result following the visit of the President of the Republic Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, to the friendly Republic of Cuba in order to expand cooperation between the two countries in the field of education,” indicated the Ministry of Education in a statement.

President of Republic oversees conclusion of training days for heads of municipalities in liberated zones

Shaheed El-Hafed, July 10, 2017 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, supervised Sunday the conclusion of the training days for the heads of municipalities in the liberated zones of Western Sahara, which were organized by the Ministry of Reconstruction and Development, July 4-9, under the theme "model municipalities are symbols of national sovereignty".

Swedish delegation on visit to Sahrawi refugee camps

Shaheed El-Hafed, July 9, 2017 (SPS) -  Swedish delegation of World Education started Saturday a visit in Sahrawi refugee camps that will last for 10 days.
The delegation will visit the wilayas and institutions of the Sahrawi Republic and meet with members of National Secretariat of the Polisario Front and SADR government, in order to find out about the situation of the Sahrawi refugees to raise awareness about their plight.

Moroccan forces intervenes violently against Sahrawi demonstrators in occupied Boujdour

Boujdour (Occupied Territories), July 8, 2017 (SPS) -  The Moroccan forces intervened violently to disperse peaceful Sahrawi demonstrators, who took to the streets in the occupied city of Boujdour, to express their solidarity with Sahrawi students detainees and condemn their mock trial and the harsh sentences issued against them.
The violent intervention of the Moroccan forces resulted in many injuries among the peaceful Sahrawi demonstrators.
