Namibia: Geingob Urges World to Resolve Western Sahara Issue

Windhoek — President Hage Geingob has reminded the world that the protracted Western Sahara issue still needs sorting out.
Namibia has on many occasions undertaken not to tire in its quest to see Morocco, which was recently re-admitted into the African Union (AU), give up its illegal occupation of Western Sahara.
Geingob made the call in Windhoek yesterday when he addressed a conference of the African-European party dialogue of socialists and democrats, aimed at overcoming inequality as a political challenge.

WSCUK is an independent voluntary organisation founded in 1984 with the aim of supporting the recognition of the right of the Saharawi people of Western Sahara to self-determination and independence and to raise awareness of the unlawful occupation of Western Sahara.
It issued proceedings against DEFRA and HMRC arguing that the UK was unlawfully allowing products, originating from or processed in Western Sahara, to be imported into the UK under a trade agreement with Morocco.

New York, Sept  07, 2017 (SPS) - Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) Antonio Guterres stressed the need to put an end to the conflict in Western Sahara, expressing his commitment to starting the negotiation process between the two parties of the conflict (the Frente  POLISARIO and Morocco) for a new impetus to reach a political settlement guaranteeing the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination.

Algiers, Sept 05, 2017 (SPS) - The Secretary General of the National Union of Saharawi Women (UNMS), Ms. Fatma El-Mahdi said in an interview with the Algerian newspaper "Al Hiwar "that the Moroccan attempt to gain time in the Western Sahara conflict is a lost challenge.
Fatma El-Mahdi argued his statement by saying that Morocco lives internally a precarious situation and a crisis that is getting worse and worse.

Algiers, September 4, 2017 (SPS) - Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel said that Morocco’s assaults against the delegations of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) at the African Union are always "doomed to fail," welcoming the position of the Pan-African Organization which showed "unity and cohesion.”
Messahel said on the sidelines of the opening of the Parliament’s ordinary session that the "Moroccan assaults, like those against Malabo and Mozambique are always doomed to fail."

Algiers, September 4, 2017 (SPS) - President of the Algerian Red Crescent (CRA) Saida Benhabilès has denounced on Sunday the global decision of reducing the humanitarian aids to the Sahrawi people, calling on the UN and the international humanitarian organizations to put pressure on donors so to cancel such an "irresponsible" decision.

“Over a month ago I did respond to Deus Kibamba’s opinion regarding the conflict between my country, the Sahrawi Republic (SADR), and Morocco.
I did so then, as I am doing it now, in an act of legitimate self-defence. Deus Kibamba appeared out of the blue to defend, with unfounded statements and wrong concepts, the expansionism of Morocco and to misinform about the Maghreb region.

Establishment of Panamanian association of solidarity with Saharawi cause

Panama, September 3, 2017 (SPS) - A Panamanian association of solidarity with the Saharawi Cause has been formally established on Saturday, according to a Sahrawi diplomatic sources.
The founding meeting was held in Panama City with the presence of the Saharawi party and members of the association.
During the meeting, the association set some goals to promote solidarity work, as well as activities and an internal plan of action.

Venezuela renews its strong support for Saharawi people right to sovereignty and self-determination

Caracas (Venezuela), August,  31 2017 (SPS) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has renewed Venezuela's strong support for the right of the Saharawi people to sovereignty and self-determination, according to a letter received by the Sahrawi Minister of Foreign Affairs,  Mohamed Salem Ould Salek from his Venezuelan counterpart in response to a congratulatory message on the occasion of his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela.
 

Activist Aminatou Haidar calls for protection of Western Sahara people, self-determination referendum

Algiers, August 31, 2017 (SPS) - Saharawi human rights activist Aminatou Haidar called Wednesday, in Algiers, for protection of Western Sahara people and speeding up the organization of a self-determination referendum, to find a definitive solution to the Saharawi conflict.
Haidar, in an interview with APS, said the violations of Saharawi people's human rights by Moroccan occupation authorities "will continue, at all levels, as long as Western Sahara conflict is not settled."

Western Sahara people wishes Guetteres efforts be along same lines as Ban ki-moon's

Algiers, August 30, 2017 (SPS) - Saharawi people wishes that the efforts of UN secretary general Antonio Guterres for the settlement of Western Sahara issue be along the same lines as those of his predecessor, Ban Ki-moon, who tried to revive the self-determination process, Saharawi journalist Hamma Mehdi said.
Hamma Mehdi told APS that Ban Ki-moon tried to revive the self-determination process, adding that the efforts of his personal envoy, Christopher Ross, contributed to this move, in spite of Morocco's attempts to divert UN attention.

International Women March calls for an accelerated end to the occupation of Western Sahara

Maputo (Mozambique), August 29, 2017 (SPS) - The International March for Women called on the international community and the African Union to act as soon as possible to end the illegal Moroccan occupation of party of the Sahrawi Republic.
The International Women's March said in a statement that what happened in Maputo during the summit of the partnership between the African Union and Japan on August 23 and 24, and the conduct of the Moroccan delegation is irresponsible and contrary to the decisions and principles of the African Union.
