40th EUCOCO: International community must put pressure on Spain, Morocco (final statement)

Madrid, 15 Nov 2015 (SPS) - The participants in the 40th International Conference for Support and Solidarity with Sahrawi People called on Saturday evening in Madrid the international community to make further pressure on the Moroccan occupier and the Spanish government to end this illegal occupation of Sahrawi territories.

Madrid, 14 Nov 2015 (SPS) - The participants in the workshop on human rights and the occupied territories denounced Saturday in Madrid the violations and acts of violence by the Moroccan forces in the occupied Sahrawi territories, and called for the immediate halt to the human rights abuses and the release of all Sahrawi political prisoners held in Moroccan jails.

President of Lower House Foreign Affairs Commission reiterates Algeria's commitment to self-determination of Saharawi people

Madrid, 14 Nov 2015 (SPS) - President of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the National People's Assembly (Lower House) Nourdine Belmeddah hailed Friday evening in Madrid, the peaceful struggle of the Saharawi people against the Moroccan occupier, reiterating the commitment of Algeria to the right to self-determination as the only solution to the conflict in Western Sahara occupied by Morocco for 40 years.

40th EUCOCO Opportunity to reiterate Sahrawi people’s inalienable right to self-determination

ALGIERS, November 12, 2015 (SPS) - The 40th meeting of the European Conference for support and solidarity with the Saharawi people (EUCOCO), to be held Friday and Saturday in Madrid, will be an opportunity for participants to reiterate the "inalienable" right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence, and contribute to the peace process in Western Sahara, occupied by Morocco since 1975.

 

EUCOCO Holding in Madrid is a clear message to the Spanish Government to assume its responsibilities

Madrid, November 12,2015 (SPS) .- The Polisario Front representative in Madrid, Bouchraya Beyun said Tuesday that the holding of the International Conference in Support and Solidarity with the Saharawi People (EUCOCO), which will be held on 13 and 14 November in Madrid, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Madrid agreements, under which Spain handed over the territory to Morocco, is a clear message to the Spanish Government to assume its responsibilities in the Western Sahara.


 

SADR takes part in the 57th African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights session

Banjul(Gambia), November 11, 2015 (SPS) – Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) in took part in the works of the 57th session of the African Commission for Human and Peoples Rights in Banjul, The Gambia, scheduled between 6 to 16 November.

 

Mr. Abba Haisan, secretary general of the Saharawi Jurists Union In his address, informed the participants on the latest developments related to Sahrawi issue especially the ongoing violations of human rights in the occupied territories and the illegal looting of the Sahraw natural resources.

 

Norway gives 670.000 Euros to Western Sahara flood victims

Norway, November 11. 2015 (SPS) - The Norwegian government has decided to donate approx. 670.000 Euros in humanitarian aid to UN's work towards refugees from Western Sahara, following the flooding in the refugee camps.

Tenth Interfaith Dialogue for Peace concludes its work

Boujdour (refugee camps), Nov 11, 2015 (SPS) - The 10th Interfaith Dialogue for Peace, held  under the theme “the Prophet Yahya (PBUH)”, on Tuesday evening concluded  its work in the Wilaya of Boujdour, Saharawi refugee camps.

 

In a final communiqué issued at the end of the Dialogue, participants stressed the Sahrawi people right to freedom and independence.

 

UJESARIO attends WFDY 9th Conference

Havana (Cuba), November 10, 2015 (SPS) - Hamdi Mohammad Yousuf , the charged of  External Affairs of Sahrawi Youth Union (UJESARIO) participated in the nineteenth Conference of the World Federation of Democratic Youth.

 

The interventions of the conference has voiced  solidarity and support to the Sahrawi issue, discussing  the struggle of the Saharawi young people who studied in Cuba for years and successful experience of Cuba in supporting the people.

 

Jurists call to extend MINURSO mandate to include human rights monitoring mechanism

BRUSSELS, November 10, 2015 (SPS)- International jurists and experts underlined Monday in Brussels the necessity to include human rights monitoring mechanism in the mandate of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO).

Gathered on Monday at the European Parliament, these experts also underlined the importance to grant the Sahrawi people the freedom to use their natural resources.

NEW YORK, November 10, 2015 (SPS) – the UN spokesman for the Secretary-General,  stated on Monday in UN daily press briefing,that Ross, has the right to go to Western Sahara.

 

 

He said “Ross, indeed, has the right to go to Western Sahara”. in his response to  the question of Matthew Russell Lee of Inner City Press, asked for the UN’s response about Morocco saying Ross can’t go to Western Sahara?.

 

Sweden hosts seminar on Sahrawi people right of self-determination

Stockholm, November 10, 2015 (SPS) - the Swedish capital Stockholm hosted today a seminar on "the right of self-determination in Western Sahara" on the sidelines of the annual Human Rights Forum which will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden.

 

The forum will be attended by international law and human rights experts, led by former Legal Adviser of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Hans Corell.

 

Opening in Boujdour of 9th Forum for interreligious dialogue

 Wilaya of Boujdour (refugee camps), 9 November 2015 (SPS) The 10th forum for interreligious dialogue opened Sunday at Chahida Naaja center in the province of Boujdour, Sahrawi refugee camps, attended by religious leaders from Algeria, Mauritania and researchers from the United States of America.

 It is also attended by the imams and scholars of the Sahrawi Republic (SADR) in the presence of members of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front and executives representing various the SADR government institutions.

Algiers, 9 Nov 2015 (SPS) - The urgent holding of a referendum on the self-determination in Western Sahara will put an end to the conflict in these territories, which under Moroccan occupation pleaded Sunday, in Algiers, Jean Ziegler, member of the Advisory Committee to the United Nations Human Rights Council, accusing Morocco of crimes against humanity in these territories.
