Sahrawi political prisoners "Gdeim Izik group" call for an effective pressure on Morocco

Salé(Morocco), Sept 17, 2015 (SPS) - The Sahrawi political prisoners called today the international community to immediately intervene to exert pressure on Morocco to comply with the international law and the  international legitimacy, respect for the right of the Saharawi people to freedom and independence, and the release of all Saharawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails.

 

Sahrawi masses organize peaceful demonstrations in occupied Smara

Occupied Smara, Sept 17, 2015 (SPS) - the activities of the independence uprising in the occupied Smara today, has organized massive demonstrations, according to Sahrawi human rights source.


The demonstrators chanted various national slogans calling for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and freedom.


They also voiced their solidarity with all the Saharawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails.

 

Spanish Federation of Human Rights Associations organize a workshop on forced disappearances in occupied Western Sahara

The time has come for the UN to determine a date for the holding of a self-determination referendum for the people of Western Sahara, says Zuma

Pretoria (South Africa), Sept 15, 2015 (SPS) - the South African President, Mr. Jacob Zuma called today on the United Nations to set a date for a referendum of the Saharawi people to decide their fate, in his speech on International Relations Peace and Security to Heads of Missions and Media in Pretoria.

 

 

As Nkosi Albert Luthuli said at the 42nd ANC Annual Conference; “Our interest in freedom is not confined to ourselves only. We are interested in the liberation of all oppressed people in the whole of Africa and in the world as a whole”.

 

CODESA meets political adviser at the US embassy in Rabat

El Aaiun (Occupied Territories) Sept 15, 2015 (SPS) - members of The Collective of Sahrawi Human Rights Defenders (CODESA) on Tuesday met, the political counselor at the US embassy in Rabat, reported CODESA source. 



During the meeting, the pair has discussed the situation of human rights in Western Sahara and the ongoing Moroccan violations of human rights against the Saharawi civilians in the occupied territory.

 

 

Spain supports UN efforts for Saharawi people self-determination

Madrid, Sept 15 2015 (SPS) .- The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, José Manuel García-Margallo on Monday, reiterated before the special UN envoy for Western Sahara, Mr. Christopher Ross, the support of Spain to a "fair" and "mutually acceptable" solution that addresses the "self-determination" of the Saharawi people.

Spanish Federation of Human Rights Associations calls for the publishing HCHR reports on Western Sahara

Geneva(Switzerland) Sept 15, 2015 (SPS) - The Federation of Spanish Associations for Human Rights, called for the dissemination of the High Commissioner for human Rights Mission of the UN reports on the territory of Western Sahara, during the works of the 30th session of the Council of the human rights in Geneva, Switzerland.



“Human rights abuses are still ongoing in the occupied part of Western Sahara and it is in deterioration day after day.”  The Federation indicated in its intervention.


 

Aragon Podemos leader affirms his Party support to the right of self-determination for the Saharawi people

Aragon(Spain) Sept 15, 2015 (SPS) - The leader of Podemos party in the province of Aragon Mr. Echenique, affirmed his support for the rights of the Saharawi people to freedom and independence.

 

“We support the Sahrawi right to freedom and independence and we will redouble our efforts within the parliamentary group of solidarity.” Said Echenique during his meeting with the Polisario Front representative to Aragon Mr. Sidahmed Darbal in the local headquarter of the parliament.

 Tantan (Southern Morocco) 13September 2015 (SPS) - Sahrawi Media activist and coordinator of media team “Equipe Media” Mohamed Mayara was exposed Friday evening to harassment and provocation by Moroccan security men, in the presence of the members of his family while they were in the southern Morocco city of Tantan, reported the Ministry of the Occupied Territories and community Abroad.

 

Moroccan court sets date for trial of Sahrawi political prisoner Embarek Dawdi

 Agadir (Morocco), 13 Sept 2015 (SPS) - The Moroccan Court in Agadir has set 27 October, for the trial of Sahrawi political prisoner Embarek Dawdi, according to the Ministry of the Occupied Territories and Communities Abroad.

 

 The setting of the date comes after Embarek Dawdi proceeded Tuesday on a hunger strike for 48 hours.

 

Jeremy Corbyn elected leader of British Labour party

The new leader is known for his strong and uncompromising stand in favor of the Saharawi people's struggle for self-determination and independence.

 

UGTSARIO denounces blockade by Morocco of ITUC planned mission to occupied territories

Shaheed Hafed, 11 Sept 2015 (SPS) - Sahrawi Workers Union UGTSARIO has expressed strong condemnation to the decision of the Moroccan authorities to block the visit of the mission of International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) to the occupied territories of Western Sahara which was planned for the next week.

 

In a statement Thursday, UGTSARIO considered the blockade as a chapter of the series of the police suffocating siege imposed on the Sahrawi community in the occupied territories.

 

Moroccan authorities block ITUC planned mission to occupied territories of Western Sahara

Brussels (Belgium), 10 Sept. 2015 (SPS) – The Moroccan authorities has blocked the mission of International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) to the occupied territories of Western Sahara which was planned for the next week.

 

ITUC Deputy General Secretary, Jaap Wienen, confirmed in a statement that the reason behind the blockade was that the Sahrawi community in the occupied territories “would use the opportunity of our mission to organise big mobilisations on the roads of Laayoune , which especially in a period of elections would lead to confrontations”.
