Sahrawi graduate deprived of employment for political positions of his family

El Aaiun (Occupied Territories), October 10, 2011 (SPS) - Saharawi graduates, Idriss Sid'Ahmed Dembar Abdel Wahab, was denied the right to work by the Moroccan authorities due to political positions of his family, which refused the burial of his brother Saeed Dembar, assassinated last December by a Moroccan police officer in occupied El Aaiun, according to Sahrawi judicial source.

 

Pan African Parliament calls AU for independence of Western Sahara

Midrand (South Africa), October 10, 2011 (SPS) - The Pan-African Parliamentarians met in Midrand (Johannesburg) at the Fifth Ordinary Session of the Second Pan-African Parliament (PAP)called on the African Union (AU) so that it makes decisions to end the colonization of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) by Morocco.

 

British NGO calls for protecting human rights in occupied Dakhla

London, October 10, 2011 (SPS) Western Sahara Campaign in Britain, is calling to sign a petition urging  the UN to protect human rights in Dakhla and investigate the events in this city, said Saturday in London Mr. Ken Ritchie, Executive Member of the organization.

 

Ministers Council denounces repression of Saharawi citizens in occupied Dakhla

Shaheed El Hafed, October 10, 2011 (SPS) - The Council of Ministers denounced Saturday the "repressive" practices perpetrated by Moroccan forces and settlers against Sahrawi defenseless citizens in the occupied city of Dakhla since  September 25, said a statement sanctioning a meeting of the Council of Ministers.

 

The Council reiterated the need for an "urgent" intervention of the UN to protect lives and properties of Saharawi citizens in the city, in order to "avoid the worst," the statement added.

New York, October 7, 2011 (SPS) - Nigeria has called on the United Nations to place a mechanism for the independence of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), during the session of the UN Fourth Committee, in charge of special political issues and decolonization in New York.

 

Nigeria's permanent ambassador to UN Augustine Ugochukwu Nwosa called on           the United Nations “to set in motion the machinery for the independence of Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic without further delay under the auspices and supervision of the United Nations.”

Plunder of Saharawi resources is a crime, underlines Australian lawyer

Melbourne, Oct 6, 2011 (SPS) - The Australian lawyer , Tim Roberston, said on Wednesday that the pillage of Saharawi natural resources is a crime of plunder outlawed by Geneva conventions, highlighting the role of Australian companies in looting the natural resources of occupied Western Sahara.

Mr. Roberston  was speaking during an event hosted by The Australian Institute of International Affairs in  Melbourne on the issue of Western Sahara under the title: Western Sahara and its Phosphate Rock: is Australia in a Hard Place?

Bardem demands action to end human rights abuses in occupied Western Sahara

Action at Santa Cruz port to protest the theft of Western Sahara sand

Tenerife (Canary Isles), Oct 6, 2011 (SPS) - At least 18 Saharawi activists and Spanish sympathizers staged Wednesday in a mass protest in the waters of the fishing dock at the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife to protest the theft of Saharawi sand being unloaded from occupied El Aaiun and stored in facilities of the port of Santa Cruz, Tenerife.




The participants in this protest displayed a banner that exceeds 15 feet in the water in front of the boat that departed from the port of occupied El Aaiun, capital of Western Sahara.

Pan-African Parliament adopts fact-finding mission report on Western Sahara

Midrand (South Africa), Oct 6, 2011 (SPS) - The Pan-African Parliament debated and adopted on Thursday two fact-finding mission reports on the situation in Cote d’Ivoire and Western Sahara.





Presenting the report on Western Sahara, MP Hon. Juliana Kantengwa from Rwanda said that they have observed that Moroccan human rights abuses and violations in the occupied territories of Western Sahara were reported to be continuing unabated,” adding “there was a complete media blackout imposed on the Saharawi people.”

Saharawi ambassador receives by president of foreign affairs committee in Chilean Congress

Santiago de Chile, Oct 5, 2011 (SPS) - The Saharawi Ambassador on a mission to Chile, Mr. Zrug Larousi, received Monday by the President of the Foreign Affairs Committee in Chile's Lower House, Mr. Carlos Abel Jarpa, according to the SADR Embassy on mission to Chile.




During the meeting, the Saharawi diplomat briefed his interlocutor about the latest developments on the Saharawi cause, in particular the latest tragic events in the occupied city of Dakhla.

Dusseldorf (Germany), Oct 5, 2011 (SPS) - The European Association of Lawyers for Democracy and World Human Rights (EJDM) called Tuesday on Morocco to respect the civil rights of the Saharawis and accept their peaceful means of protest, expressing its deep concern on the heinous repression by the Moroccan occupation forces against a peaceful protest recently held in the Saharawi occupied city of Dakhla, according to a statement of the Association.
