Spain Youth Council calls its government to recognize SADR

Las Palmas (Canaria, Spain), April 12, 2016 (SPS) - Spain Youth Council called on its government to recognize the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), assuming it the responsibility of decolonization in Western Sahara, during the conference session in the city of Las Palmas, Canary Islands.
 
 

Zimbabwe Supports Saharawi Republic

ZIMBABWE has pledged to support the people of Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic in the fight against its imperial occupier, Morocco, a senior Government official has said. Briefing journalists after a meeting with the outgoing Saharawi ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mohamed Cheij Saleh, at his Munhumutapa Offices in Harare on Friday, Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Minister Christopher Mushohwe said Zimbabwe had always been behind the people of Saharawi since independence.

American Senators called on Ban Ki-moon to intervene on dismantling of MINURSO

Washington, 10 April 2016 (SPS) - Members of the American Senate called, on Saturday, the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, to intervene on the danger posed by the dismantling of the United Nations Mission for the referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to peacekeeping in the occupied Sahrawi territories, Polisario Front representatives in Washington told APS.
In a letter addressed to the UN Secretary General, influential American senators, including Republican James Inhofe, warned against Morocco’s attempts to dismantle the MINURSO.

African Union urges for activation of Committee of Wise on Western Sahara

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), 10 April 2016 (SPS) - African Union Peace and Security Council (AUPCS) called for "activating" the Committee of the Wise on Western Sahara, made up of African leaders, to speed up decolonization process in the territory.
At a meeting Wednesday on Western Sahara, AU Council of Peace and Security has called for the "activation" of Africa's Committee of the Wise on Western Sahara in order to undertake consultations with the concerned parties and reach, as soon as possible, a solution to the Saharawi issue."

AU: Morocco's decision to expel Minurso staff "threatens regional security"

Addis Ababa, 10 April 2016 (SPS) - The African Union's (AU) Council of Peace and Security (CPS) stated that Moroccan authorities' decision to expel the staff of the United Nations Mission for Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) from the occupied territories "threatens regional security," calling the UN Security Council "to fully assume its responsibility."

Government discusses latest developments related to Sahrawi issue

Shaheed El Hafed, April 9, 2016 (SPS) - The government examined Thursday the latest developments related to the question of Western Sahara, nationally and internationally, in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister, M .Abdelkader Taleb Omar.
 
The meeting reviewed several issues, including the emergency plan adopted by the permanent office of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front during its last meeting.

MINURSO must be given a mandate to monitor the human rights situation in Western Sahara ( Nordic United Nations Associations)

Oslo, 9 April 2016 (SPS) In joint Statement by the five Nordic United Nations Associations (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden) has urged for an expansion of the mandate of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO).
In April, a renewal of the mandate is to be discussed in the United Nations Security Council.

AU PSC calls on UN SC to “fully” assume its responsibility regarding Western Sahara issue

Addis Ababa, 9 April 2016 (SPS) - The Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union (AU), at its 588th meeting held on 6 April 2016, adopted a decision on the situation in Western Sahara, which calls on the UN Security Council to fully assume its responsibility in the matter, by acting under Chapter VII, to demand Morocco to annul its decision to expel MINURSO personnel.
