Non-Aligned Movement Summit reiterates support for Saharawi people's right to self-determination

Margarita (Venezuela), September 19, 2016 (SPS) - The 17th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement has reaffirmed support for all resolutions of the UN General Assembly and Security Council on Western Sahara, calling for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination, in accordance with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and resolution 1514 of 14 December 1960.

UN proposes MINURSO exclusive presence in Guerguerat

New York, September 18, 2016 (SPS) - The United Nations has proposed the exclusive presence of the peacekeeping forces of the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) in Guerguerat area, southwest of Western Sahara, where Polisario Front and Moroccan troops are separated from each other by only 120 metres.

President of National Council receives Hungarian MEP

Shaheed El Hafed, September 18, 2016 (SPS) President of the National Council (Parliament), Khatri Addouh, received Saturday Hungarian Member of European Parliament, Lajos Kapli, on a visit to the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).
The audience was attended by Suelma Beiruk, Vice President of the African Parliament, Hamdi Boueha, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting focused on the latest developments of the question of Western Sahara and the means to strengthen Sahrawi, Hungarian and European parliamentary relations.

President of Republic receives Salvadoran Senator Juan Manuel Flores

Parliamentary delegations from El Salvador and Hungary on visit in Sahrawi refugee camps

Shaheed El-Hafed (refugee camps) September 17, 2016 (SPS)  Parliamentary delegations from El Salvador and Hungary is on a working visit Saturday in the Saharawi refugee camps, where it will meet with Sahrawi authorities.
The delegations includes a member of the Salvadoran parliament and another of the Hungarian parliament, indicated the Bureau of the National Council, adding that the Salvadoran Parliament is expected to sign a protocol of action for the creation of a Sahrawi-Salvadoran parliamentary friendship commission.

Morocco cannot continue its colonial occupation of Western Sahara whiles seeking membership of the African Union (SFG)

Accra (Ghana), Sept 16, 2016 (SPS) - The Socialist Forum of Ghana (SFG) reaffirmed on Wednesday that Morocco cannot continue its colonial occupation of Western Sahara whiles seeking membership of the African Union, insisting that those who seek membership of the AU ought to accept the lofty principles of anti-colonialism, anti-racism and commitment to Pan Africanism which form the basis on which the organisation was founded.
 

Spanish aid to Saharawis refugee

Madrid (Spain), Sept 16, 2016 (SPS) - Saharawi refugees living in camps will receive humanitarian aid consisting of 3500 kg of school stationary and medical supply, the first batch of which is to be shipped next Friday from Alicante, Spain, according to Spanish media.
The aid consists in donations from about twelve companies and from groups of the city of Valladolid, according to Spanish newspaper El Norte de Castilla.
The aid is composed of 1500 kg of school stationary and medical equipment, including syringe, blood bags and medicine.

National Council holds meeting to prepare for its coming agendas

Chahid El Hafed, Sept 16, 2016 (SPS) - the Bureau of the National Council, headed by a member of the National Secretariat, Speaker of  National Council Mr. Jatri Aduh held preparatory meeting for the upcoming visit of a delegation from his Salvadoran and Hungarian counterpart.
 
Said delegation, two members of the Salvadoran and Hungarian parliament, is expected to sign a protocol of work provides for the establishment of the Sahrawi-Salvadoran friendship Parliamentary Committee.
 

European Court : EU-Morocco pacts not applicable to Western Sahara (Washington Post)

Brussels (Belgium) Sept 16, 2016 (SPS) -the Washington Post magazine, with widespread had published story on the recent advisory opinion of advocate general  Melchior Wathelet concerning the EU-Morocco trade and agricultural agreements, in which he asserted that these agreements does not apply to Western Sahara.
Melchior Wathelet underlined in his legal opinion that Western Sahara isn’t a part of Morocco, and EU member countries have never recognized the North African country’s sovereignty over the territory.
