Morocco's adherence to AU Constitutive Act, recognition of Sahrawi State

Algiers, February 06 2017 (SPS) - Sahrawi Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Salek said Monday in Algiers Morocco adherence to the AU Constitutive Act represented a "legal recognition" of the Sahrawi state and its sovereignty over its territory.
"The adoption by Morocco of the AU Constitutive Act is a legal and clear recognition of the Sahrawi State and its sovereignty over its territory," Ould Salek told a news conference host at the headquarters of the Sahrawi embassy in Algiers.

Committee charged of upcoming National agenda holds a press conference

The conference focused on the commemoration of 41the anniversary of SADR declaration on February 27, which will be hosted in Bir Lahlou, liberated Territories, and the participation of national institutions and their role in highlighting the national gains achieved at the national and international level .

Western Sahara resources: WSRW welcomes EU decision on respect for international law

London, February 04, 2017 (SPS) – Western Sahara Resource Watch (WSRW) welcomed the European Union's decision to respect "the separate and distinct status" of the territory of Western Sahara, when considering its energy imports from Morocco.
The non-governmental organization (NGO) underlined in a statement the "shift in the EU Commission's position vis-a-vis Western Sahara, where before, the Commission would consistently state that Western Sahara is de facto administered by Morocco."

Morocco’s accession to AU without preconditions is victory for Sahrawi cause

London (U.K.), February 02, 2017 (SPS) - The representative of the Frente  POLISARIO in the United Kingdom Mohamed Limam Mohamed Ali said Thursday, in London, that Morocco’s accession to the African Union and the abandonment of the conditions  previously issued, and which were the source of its withdrawal in 1984 from the Organization of African Unity, were a “victory for the Sahrawi cause.”

SADR participates in XV International Pedagogy Congress Edition 2017

Havana, February 02, 2017 (SPS) - A Sahrawi  Ministerial Delegation led by the Minister of Education, Mr. Mohamed Molud Mohamed Fadel is taking part in the XV Edition of the International Pedagogical Congress 2017 at the invitation of the Minister of Education of the Greater Antilles.
About 40 countries are represented in the event, which until 3 February will be held at the Convention Center.

Spanish medical delegation to be sent, in March, to Sahrawi refugee camps

Madrid, February 02, 2017 (SPS) - The association of Zamora (Spain) of friendship with the Sahrawi people announced the sending, in March, of a specialized medical delegation which will provide treatment and perform consultations and surgical operations to the Sahrawi refugees.
This health cooperation project will comprise gynaecologists, paediatricians and doctors who will, for two weeks, perform medical examinations to the Sahrawi population living in difficult conditions in the refugee camps.

Addis Ababa, February 02, 2017 (SPS) - Following its membership in the African Union (AU), Morocco is urged to efficiently contribute to the implementation of the UN-OAU (currently AU) Peace Plan for the decolonization of Western Sahara, and respect for the sovereignty of the Sahrawi Republic on its territory, President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) Brahim Gali stressed in Addis Ababa.

With or without Morocco in AU, Polisario Front has “already won”

London (U.K.), February 01, 2017 (SPS) - Morocco’s admission to the African Union (AU) does not change the fact that the Polisario Front, the only legitimate representative of the people of Western Sahara “has already won” by being recognized by the Union, said Wednesday, the director of the Arab Centre for Social and Political Research (CARAPS) based in Geneva (Switzerland), Riadh Sidaoui.
