Paloma Lopez denounces "arbitrary" conviction of Saharawi journalist Waleed Al Batal

Brussels, June 10, 2017 (SPS) - MEP Paloma Lopez denounced the "arbitrary" nature of the accusations and court proceedings that led to the 14-month prison sentence imposed on Sahrawi journalist Waleed Al Batal, urging the European Union (EU) Put pressure on the Moroccan authorities of occupation to obtain his release, as well as that of his father Salek Al Batal.

Heroic resistance of Sahrawi people forced Moroccan occupier to adopt policy of headlong rush

Smara (refugee camps), June 10, 2017 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali affirmed Thursday that the heroic resistance of the Saharawi people has forced the Moroccan occupier to adopt the policy of headlong rush by displaying intransigence, obstruction, escalation and threat of peace and stability in the region.  

International observers denounce irregularities in Gdeim Izik trial

Madrid (Spain), June 07, 2017 (SPS) - More than a dozen of international observers attending Monday in Rabat the resumption of the trial of Saharawi Gdeim Izik's political prisoners denounced various irregularities.
The chairwoman of SOGAPS (Solidariedade Galega co Pobo Saharaui) group, Maite Isla, attending the hearing, denounced in a joint statement published on the website of her association the irregularities in the trial procedures.

Emhamed Khaddad holds meetings with Slovenian officials and leaders of political parties

SADR participates in 5th African Conference of Solidarity with Cuba

Windhoek (Namibia), 07 June 2017 (SPS) - The Saharawi Republic, represented by the Saharawi Ambassador, the extraordinary Commissioner in Angola and Namibia, took part at  the Fifth African Conference of Solidarity with Cuba.
Saharawi Ambassador expressed the happiness of representing the Sahrawi Republic in such an event in the free and independent capital of Windhoek to celebrates the Solidarity with the Cuban Revolution, which fought alongside the liberation armies of the region with the courage and determination to eradicate colonialism.
 

Ubbi Buchraya reiterates POLISARIO’s will and intentions to facilitate new special envoy mission

Paris, June 07, 2017 (SPS)  - The representative of the Frente POLISARIO in France, Ubbi Buchraya, affirmed on Tuesday, in statements to Radio Montecarlo and France International, "that the POLISARIO has a serious will and true intentions to facilitate the work of the  new special envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations ".
 
The Saharawi diplomat said that the experience and reputation of Mr. Horst Köhler would put him in a comfortable position to unlock the negotiations between the parties, which have been blocked since 2012.

London Bridge attack: President of Republic expresses "deep sadness"

Bir Lahlu, 5 June 2017 (SPS) The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, expressed his "deep sadness" following the London Bridge attack on Saturday which killed seven people and wounded 48.
In a message to British Prime Minister Theresa May, the President of the Republic expressed his "solidarity" with the British people and his "deep sadness following the brutal London attack."

Former German President, new UN envoy to Western Sahara

New York, June 4, 2017 (SPS) - Former German President Horst Köhler is to be appointed as UN envoy for Western Sahara to relaunch talks between Morocco and the Polisario Front, according to a letter released on Friday.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres informed last week the Security Council of his decision to appoint Köhler, and no country has objected, which validates his appointment.
