S-G of General Union of Algerian Workers arrives in Sahrawi refugee camps

Shaheed Al-Hafed, October 20, 2024 (SPS) - The Secretary General of the General Union of Algerian Workers, Mr. Amar Takdjout, arrived yesterday in the Sahrawi refugee camps on a two-day visit to participate in the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Sahrawi Trade Union “UGTSARIO”.

Mr. Amar Takdjout received an official and popular reception in the wilaya of Smara. He also held meetings with the regional and local authorities of the wilaya.

Sahrawi civilian prisoner begins open hunger strike

Shaheed Al-Hafed, October 20, 2024 (SPS) - The Sahrawi civilian prisoner within the Gdeim Izik group, Sidi Abdeljalil Kamal Laaroussi, who was unjustly sentenced to life imprisonment, has begun an open hunger strike since Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in the Ibn Sina University Hospital in Rabat, in protest against the lack of hospital conditions and the continuous pressures he is subjected to inside the hospital.

Polisario Front representative at UN reiterates Sahrawi people's categorical rejection of any proposal outside international framework for Western Sahara as a decolonization issue

New York (United Nations), October 19, 2024 (SPS) - Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, member of the National Secretariat, Polisario Front representative at the United Nations and Coordinator with MINURSO, reiterated the Sahrawi people's categorical rejection of any proposal, whatever its formula, that is outside the international framework for Western Sahara as a decolonization issue and does not guarantee our people's inalienable right to self-determination and independence.

Spain: Basque delegation visits Sahrawi state institutions

Shaheed Al-Hafed, October 19, 2024 (SPS) - A delegation from the Basque Country has begun a visit to Sahrawi state institutions, during which it will learn about the reality of the Sahrawi people and monitor the functioning of Sahrawi state institutions.

The delegation, which includes 41 people including politicians, parliamentarians and solidarity activists from various regions of the Basque Country, aims behind this visit to strengthen political solidarity between Basque and Sahrawi institutions.

Sahrawi Army targets enemy bases in Al-Baghari sector

Bir Lahlou (Liberated Territories), October 19, 2024 (SPS) - Advanced detachments of Sahrawi People's Liberation Army fighters targeted Moroccan enemy bases in Al-Baghari sector, causing heavy losses in lives and equipment.

According to the military statement issued by the Central Directorate of the Political Prefecture of the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army, advanced units of SPLA carried out on Thursday, a concentrated bombardment, twice in a row, targeting enemy bases in the Hafrat Al-Shiyaf area in Al-Baghari sector.

Sahrawi civilian prisoners suffer from medical neglect and racial discrimination in Ait Melloul 2 local prison

Occupied Laayoune, October 19, 2024 (SPS) - The administration of the Ait Melloul 2 local prison, on the outskirts of the Moroccan city of Agadir, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, prevented the Sahrawi civilian prisoners from the Gdeim Izik group, Mohamed Ahnini Al-Ruh Bani and Ibrahim Dadi Ismaili, from receiving appropriate medical care after excluding them from undergoing medical examinations on their bones and joints.

SPLA  targets Moroccan occupation positions in Haouza and El Farsiya.

UNGA: Fourth Committee adopts resolution reaffirming legal status of Western Sahara

New York (UN), 18 October 2024 (SPS) - UN General Assembly (UNGA), Special Political and Decolonization Committee (Fourth Committee), in its 79th high-level session on Thursday, approved without a vote a draft resolution on Western Sahara, by referring to the principles set forth in the UN Charter UNGA Resolution 1514 (XV) of 14 December 1960 containing the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples.

The Communist Party of Kenya hails the ruling of EU Court on Western Sahara, denouncing EU attempts to overturn it

Nairobi (Kenya) 17 October 2024 (SPS)- The Communist Party of Kenya (CPK) strongly endorsed the recent ruling by the European Court of Justice (ECJ) invalidating agreements between Morocco and the European Union (EU) that exploit the natural resources of Western Sahara.

In a statement issued by its Central Organizing Committee (COC) Yesterday and published on its official Website, the CPK described the ruling as a pivotal moment in the Saharawi people’s fight for independence and their inalienable right to self-determination.

Closed-door consultations of Security Council on MINURSO

New York (UN), 17 October 2024 (SPS) - The UN Security Council held closed-door consultations on Wednesday evening in New York regarding the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO).

Under the presidency of Switzerland, the Council heard a briefing from the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, who presented the results of his activities over the past few months, including his visit to the Sahrawi side on October 3rd.

Shaheed Al-Hafed, October 17, 2024 (SPS) - The Algerian Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Laid Rebiga, arrived Thursday at Raed Farraj Airport in Tindouf as part of a visit to the Sahrawi Republic.

Upon his arrival at the airport, the Algerian minister was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Sidati, the National Director of Protocol, Mr. Bellahi, and the Wali of Tindouf, Mr. Daho Mustafa, along with civil and military authorities of Tindouf.

Algeria encourages donors to provide more assistance to Sahrawi refugees
