Deep in the Sahara desert some 165,000 Saharawi refugees cling to the hope that they will one day return to their confiscated homeland. But despite a lifetime in exile, and denial of their basic human rights, resistance is growing.
Smara (Occupied Territories), May 1, 2017 (SPS) - Moroccan forces intervened violently, Saturday evening in the occupied city of Smara, against Sahrawi demonstrators came out in solidarity with human rights activists on unlimited hunger strike Hamadi Naciri and Kabal Jawda.
The Moroccan forces besieged the protesters during the first minutes of the demonstration, where they intervened violently against them, resulting in many injuries among the demonstrators, some of them were critically injured.
Smara (Occupied Territories), May 1, 2017 (SPS) - Human rights activists Hammadi Naciri and Kabal Jawda live in a very poor health conditions as a result of the complications of the unlimited hunger strike that they have been waging for 14 consecutive days to demand their legitimate rights.
In this context, human rights activist Hammadi Naciri fainted Sunday evening, which required transferring him urgently to hospital. His colleague Kabal Jawda had fainted earlier as a result of severe fatigue and a sharp drop in blood pressure.
