UN resolution on Western Sahara decolonization, a new failure for Morocco

Chahid el Hafed (Sahrawi refugee camps), 13, 2016 (SPS) - The United Nations reaffirmation of the inalienable right of Sahrawi people to self-determination and the nature of the Western Sahara question as a decolonization issue "is a new failure for Morocco's attempts to mislead the international public opinion," said the Sahrawi Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement, A copy of which obtained by the Sahrawi news agency (SPS).

Euro-MPs call on Mogherini to exert pressure on Morocco to release Gdeim Izik’s Sahrawi prisoners

Brussels, October 13, 2016 (SPS) -  About twenty European parliamentarians called on Tuesday the head of the European diplomacy Federica Mogherini to exert pressure on Morocco to put an end to the “illegal detention” of the Sahrawi political prisoners of “Gdeim Izik” group and to “quash” all the accusations made against this group’s members, tried by a Moroccan military court.

Nothing can undermine Western Sahara people's determination to reach their lofty goals

Dakhla (Sahrawi Camps), October 13, 2016 (SPS) - The celebration of the 41st anniversary of the National Saharawi Unity conveys a message that nothing can undermine Western Sahara people's will and determination to meet their "lofty and noble goals," Front Polisario's secretary general, Brahim Gali, said Wednesday in the Dakhla Saharawi refugee camp. 

South Africa reiterates his support to Saharawi people struggle

Dakhla, October 12, 2016 (SPS) – Ambassador of South Africa to Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) Mr. Dennis Thokozani Dolmo on Wednesday renewed his country's support to the struggle of Saharawi people to self-determination and independence, in his intervention during the celebrations of the anniversary of the 41th National Unity in the camps of Dakhla.

41 National Unity Celebrations anniversary kicked off in Dakhla Camps

Dakhla, October 12, 2016 (SPS) – the celebrations of the anniversary of the 41th National Unity has started today morning in the Camps of Dajla with the presence of the president of Republic , Secretary general of the Frente Polisario, accompanied by members of the National Secretariat and the government and a large gathering of Dakhla´s  masses.
 

Algeria calls for resumption of Western Sahara talks

New York, October 11, 2016 (SPS) - Algeria’s permanent representative to the UN Sabri Boukadoum called on Monday in New York for the resumption of talks between the Polisario Front and Morocco to end the stalemate in the UN peace process.
Following the debate of the UN Fourth Committee on Special Political and Decolonization, the Algerian representative said that the Sahrawi question is still "deadlocked" and "there are attempts to take over the peace process."

UN adopts resolution reaffirming Western Sahara people's right to self-determination

New York (United Nations), October 10, 2016 (SPS) - UN General Assembly Special Political and Decolonization Committee (Fourth Committee) adopted Monday in New York a resolution reaffirming Saharawi people's right to self-determination.
The resolution, adopted at the end of a several-day general debate on decolonization, reiterated UN general Assembly's support of the negotiation process initiated by the Security Council to reach a just, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution ensuring Western Sahara people's right to self-determination.

Prime Minister receives South African ambassador accredited to Saharawi Republic

Shaheed El Hafed, October 10, 2016 (SPS) Prime Minister Abdelkader Taleb Omar received Monday Ambassador of South Africa accredited to the Saharawi Republic, Dennis T. Dlomo.
The meeting focused on bilateral relations between the two countries and the latest developments of the question of Western Sahara.
Mr. T. Dlomo underlined that South Africa has always supported the just cause of the Sahrawi people, and will remain faithful to its support to the peoples of Africa in their struggle for freedom, prosperity and progress.

Three Spanish researchers expelled from El Aaiun by Morocco

El Aaiun (occupied territories), October 10, 2016 (SPS) The Moroccan authorities deported Sunday three Spanish researchers Carlos Martin, Gloria Guzman and Arantcha Chacon from the airport of the occupied city of El Aaiun, indicated a Saharawi media source.
The aim of the visit was to participate in awareness days about violations of human rights in occupied Western Sahara, organized by the Saharawi Association of Victims of Grave Violations of Human Rights Committed by the Moroccan State (ASVDH), according to the source.

Polisario Front demands UN SC to take "urgent" action for self-determination of Saharawi people

Western Sahara: International community reaffirms support to self-determination referendum

Fourth Committee: Mauritius calls for solution providing for self-determination of Sahrawi people

New York, October 8, 2016 (SPS) – Mauritius has called for a solution to the question of Western Sahara that will provide for the self-determination of the Sahrawi people, at the UN Special Political and Decolonization Committee.
  
“My delegation  supports  the  endeavour  of  the  Secretary  General and  his  Special  Envoy  for  Western  Sahara  in  order  to  find an  acceptable  solution  to  the  problem  of  Western  Sahara,” affirmed Mauritius before the UN Special Political and Decolonization Committee.

Minister of Foreign Affairs received by President Edgar Lungu

Lusaka, October 8, 2016 (SPS) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, who is on a working visit to Zambia, was received Friday by President Edgar Lungu Chagwa. 
President Edgar Lungu assured the Sahrawi Minister that Zambia will continue to promote relations between the Sahrawi Republic and the Kingdom of Morocco so that both parties to the conflict engage in dialogue in order to find a just and definitive solution, indicated a statement of the Zambian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

New York, October 7, 2016 (SPS) - POLISARIO Front Representative to the UN, Ahmed Boukhari underlined Thursday that "the people of Western Sahara will not abdicate their fight for self-determination" in his speech before the Fourth Committee of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
