Shaheed El-Hafed (Sahrawi Republic), 19 November 2020 (SPS) - Saharawi President Brahim Ghali on Tuesday, in the refugee camps of Chahid El Hafed, called on the international community, especially the United Nations, to take action for the end of "Moroccan occupation's violation of the international legitimacy that has led to a war in North Africa and the region."
Inspecting a voluntary recruitment operation of Saharawi youth at the "Shaheed Ammi" military school, President Ghali, also the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), condemned "the procrastination of the UN and the international community in the face of the Moroccan violation of the peace agreements signed by both parties (Polisario Front and Morocco)."
The international community is under "the obligation to put an end to the violations of the Moroccan colonizer. The same goes for the UN, which must speed up the condemnation of this illegal act that has led to a war in North Africa and the region."
Moroccan occupation "once again pushed the Saharawi people to bear arms to defend their dignity and sovereignty," the head of SADR said, adding that Western Sahara people were forced into war, for the first time on 31 October 1985, and the second on 13 November 2020, a day before the commemoration of the Madrid Agreement.
President Ghali stressed that his country "is in a state of war, triggered by the Moroccan expansionist regime through the violation of the ceasefire and peace agreements". (SPS)
