Chahid El Hafed, June 26, 2018 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Frente POLISARIO, Mr. Brahim Gali, received Tuesday at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic the Personal Envoy of the Secretary General of the UN for Western Sahara, Mr. Horst Kohler, who is on a tour to the region to relaunch the process of negotiations between the two parties to the conflict, the frente POLISARIO and Morocco.
After the meeting, Mr. Kohler made a statement to the media, where he stated that he had very positive conversations with the Secretary General of the frente POLISARIO and with the negotiating team that allowed him to go deeper into the multiple difficulties in the Saharawi issue.
UN envoy also revealed that the Secretary General of the frente POLISARIO expressed his wish that the UN fulfill its commitments and work for the implementation of Security Council resolutions in order to find a solution to the problem.
Mr. Kohler also indicated that the idea of reducing the mandate of the Minurso "will generate a dynamic and a way of thinking with a new spirit, which could lead, after further negotiations, to a solution accepted by both parties and that contribute in the development process of the North African region as a whole ".SPS
