Sessions of the UN Fourth Commission kicks off

New York (United States), Oct 05, 2021 (SPS) - The Fourth Committee (Committee on Decolonization) of the United Nations General Assembly in charge of decolonization and special policy issues will carry out its work, starting Monday in New York to debate a series of issues related to the status of Non-Self-Governing Territories and the implementation of the Declaration of Independence of Colonial Countries and Peoples.
The Committee, whose work will continue until November 11, plans to hear the interventions of the representatives of the 17 Non-Self-Governing Territories.
This year's debates are marked by the return of 138 petitioners who will speak on issues related to Western Sahara, American Samoa, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, French Polynesia, Guam and the Turks and Caicos Islands, as well as the Virgin Islands of USA.SPS
