Nouakchott (Mauritania), July 2, 2018 (SPS) - Sahrawi Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Salem Ould Salek denounced Monday, in Nouakchott (Mauritania), the blocking by Morocco of the organization of the referendum on self-determination for the independence of Western Sahara.
“Morocco blocks, since 27 years, the organization of a referendum on self-determination for the independence of Western Sahara, which has an impact on peace and stability in the region,” he said in a press conference.
The head of the Sahrawi diplomacy made a statement on the sidelines of the 31st Summit of African Union Heads of State and Government.
He underlined that Morocco is supported in its oppression against the Sahrawi people by France which “exerts its influence within the United Nations Security Council,” affirming that (France) “opposes to the establishment of stability in the region.”
This instability is sustained through the “dumping by Morocco of large quantities of drugs in the region, encouraging connections with terrorism, organized crime and drug traffickers,” he said.
While favoring the peaceful solution for the resolution of this conflict, Ould Salek didn’t exclude the option of using weapons for the independence of his country. (SPS)
