“10 June 2019
*Al Jama-ah has been appalled and outraged by the systematic state –repression perpetrated against civilian on Saturday 8, 2019 in occupied Western Sahara.*
Al Jama-ah strongly condemns the ongoing repression in the occupied territories of the Sahrawi Republic by the security forces of the Moroccan occupying army.
The widely spread reports from occupied Smara, the holy city, second town of the Sahrawi people, are to say the least chocking and constitutes a serious persistent violation human rights against the people who have struggle side-by-side in supporting South African people during their fierce fight against the odious regime of Apartheid.
In a larger community of Africa, our strength matters whatever support and actions we may want to take to move Africa forward. This is seriously dependent on our commitment as continent.
We need one voice of Africa, it is frustrating and shameful to cite that the occupation has divided African leadership and states. The drive should be a unified ideology that creates meaningful achievements of peace, decolonial ideas and solving the collective African problems.
On this sad occasion we can only reiterate our strong support to the Sahrawi people. In this legitimate anti-colonial struggle and we call on the South African Government to increase its diplomatic and humanitarian support to the Sahrawi people and refugees.
Through our Security Council seat bring the issue up to be debated and ensure that the voice of the voiceless Sahrawis living under colonial occupation be heard and that the perpetrators against innocent civilians be brought sanctioned and condemned by the International Community.
We take this occasion to reaffirm our party’s unconditional solidarity with our brothers, Sahrawi in their struggle for self-determination, independence and for the respect of human rights. The dignity of our African /Muslim people who continue to call on all of us to put an end to the last colony in Africa.
We call on the United Nations and its mission in the territory (MINURSO) to assume its responsibility with regard to the ceaseless violations of Human Rights especially those that are perpetrated unabated in the area of its mission, in occupied Western Sahara.
