Lusaka, October 8, 2016 (SPS) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, who is on a working visit to Zambia, was received Friday by President Edgar Lungu Chagwa.
President Edgar Lungu assured the Sahrawi Minister that Zambia will continue to promote relations between the Sahrawi Republic and the Kingdom of Morocco so that both parties to the conflict engage in dialogue in order to find a just and definitive solution, indicated a statement of the Zambian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, the Republic of Zambia and the Sahrawi Republic decided to enhance their bilateral relations to the benefit of the well-being of their two peoples.
The statement reiterated the commitment of the Zambian government to the principles of the constitutive act of the African Union, which stresses the need to resolve all conflicts through dialogue.
For his part, the Sahrawi Minister conveyed congratulations of President of the Republic, Brahim Ghali, to his Zambian counterpart, Mr. Edgar Lungu, following his reelection as the President of the Republic of Zambia.
Mr. Ould Salek expressed appreciation to the government and people of Zambia for the continued support to the Sahrawi people's struggle for the independence of the SADR, a position that Zambia has maintained since its independence. (SPS)
