Kampala (Uganda) 24 July 2019 (SPS)- The Chairman of the Pan African Club of Ghana, Mr. Oscar Kasya, expressed his organisation’s solidarity with the Saharawi people on Monday, condemning Moroccan continues “primitive” and “greedy” colonialism in Western Sahara.
“We wish to reiterate our position that we stand with you and we will always stand with you because the world knows you are innocent but your crime are your lucrative phosphates from which Morocco illegally earns millions of USD each year, your fisheries and other minerals. The world is watching and your just struggle must win. Shame on primitive colonialism, greed and violation of human rights,” the letter stresses.
In the same vein, Oscar Kasya, affirmed that his organisation “would like in a spirit of African solidarity to condemn in the strongest terms, the unmerited repression, murder, exploitation and oppression” exercised against Saharawis by the Moroccan occupation.
The letter further states that the Ghanian organisation has “learnt with great concern that when you took to the streets on 19th July 2019 in hundreds to peacefully celebrate a well-deserved victory of Algeria’s footbal team in African Cup of Nations, the Moroccan security forces mercilessly attacked you using truncheons, tear gas, water cannons, rubber bullets and stones.”
This attacks, the text adds, “intentionally inflicted fatal injuries on you for which many of you remain in critical condition. We have also learnt that many innocent Saharawi Civilians were arrested and detained in unknown places by Moroccan forces while a young lady’s life, by the name of Sabah Osman Hamida, just aged 24 was snatched away by the Moroccan forces when their two invading cars overran her which is now understood as a deliberate murder.”
It should be recalled that the Pan African Club is a national think tank of mainly young people who have a great passion for Pan Africanism in Uganda. It holds interactive intellectual discussions on topical issues aimin at analysing challenges and generating possible solutions.
