Bir Lahlou (liberated territories), April 26, 2023 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, the Secretary -General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali congratulated today, his South African counterpart, Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa, on the occasion of the celebration of Freedom Day of the Republic of South Africa.
President Brahim Ghali said in the congratulatory message, "On the occasion of the celebration of the National Day of your brotherly country, allow me to convey to you, the government, and the people of South Africa, my sincere congratulations," noting that the 27th of April 1994 witnessed a major development of a new fall, not only in the history of South Africa, But also in the history of mankind when the brutal apartheid system was defeated by the heroic struggle of the people of South Africa.
President Brahim Ghali reiterated to South African counterpart his intention to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, solidarity and cooperation between the two countries, wishing South Africa more progress and prosperity.
Freedom Day on 27 April is an annual celebration of South Africa's first non-racial democratic elections of 1994. It is significant because it marks the end of over three hundred years of colonialism, segregation and white minority rule and the establishment of a new democratic government led by Nelson Mandela and a new state subject to a new constitution.
