Algiers, 17 June 2023 (SPS) - The participants in Diplomatic Forum of Solidarity with the Sahrawi People, held Saturday in Algiers, stressed the need for Western Sahara people to enjoy their right to self-determination and independence, guaranteed by international agreements, and the necessity to support Sahrawi people in the face of the challenges imposed on them by the Moroccan occupation, which is undermining the peace process.
The participants, in the fourth edition of the forum, stressed the need for Solidarity with Western Sahara people in their struggle against Moroccan occupation, and the necessity for the international community to assume its responsibility and exert pressure on Morocco to get it to abide by the international law, which guarantee Western Sahara people's right to self-determination and independence.
In an opening address, Sahrawi's Foreign Minister, Mohamed Sidati, said the cause of Western Sahara was gaining ground in Africa and Latin America.
He stressed that the Sahrawi cause had made achievements including in Europe, while Morocco was drowning in corruption scandals.
The Sahrawi minister thanked and welcomed the participants in the forum, as well as their countries and governments, for their support to the just and legitimate Western Sahara cause.
He reiterated the desire of the Saharawi Republic to build and enhance relations of friendship, solidarity and cooperation with those countries, in line with the aspirations of their peoples to progress, dignity and freedom.
