Moroccan organization threatens to expose human rights abuses before international justice

Rabat (Morocco) May 27, 2011 (SPS) - The Moroccan Association for Human Rights announced Thursday its readiness to expose the violations of human rights and public freedoms before the international justice, in addition to hold accountable those responsible in Morocco.

In a statement, the Association strongly condemned all forms of barbaric repression practiced by the Moroccan organs against the peaceful protests of the February 20 Movement on May 22, 2011.

It held “full responsibility of the violations and abuses to everyone who gave instructions to do so, whether political or security officials.”

The Association called on Morocco to live-up for its international commitments, especially the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights as well as International Covenant on Economic and Social Rights which confirm the right of peoples to political and economic self-determination.

It finally reaffirmed on the right of February 20 Movement and all components of the Moroccan people to express its opinions and demands by all peaceful ways, including protest. (SPS)
