President of Republic holds meetings in South Sudan Republic

Juba (South Sudan) July 10, 2011 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, held several meetings with heads of state and governments as well as participating delegations on the celebrations of the declaration of South Sudan independence.

The President of the Republic met Saturday with the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Mr. Salva Kiir Mayardit, UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, President of Zimbabwe, Mr. Robert Mugabe, head of the Cuban Delegation, Estepan Lazo.

During these meetings, he briefed to his interlocutors the latest developments concerning the Saharawi cause, including the Moroccan violations of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara and situation of the Saharawi political prisoners, calling for accelerating the decolonization of Africa's last colony through enabling the Saharawi people to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination and independence.

The President of the Republic arrived Friday in Juba at the invitation of Mr. Salva Kiir Mayardit to participate on the ceremony of official declaration of the independence of South Sudan.

The Saharawi Republic (SADR) announced Saturday its formal recognition of the Republic of South Sudan as an independent and sovereign state, and established diplomatic relations with it at the ambassadorial level. (SPS)
