Washington, July 14, 2011 (SPS) - The eighth informal meeting between the Polisario Front and Morocco will take place on 20 and 21 July in Manhasset (near New York), Polisario Front’s representative to the United Nations Ahmed Boukhari told APS Wednesday.

This meeting will take place more than a month after the previous informal round, under the auspices of the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Western Sahara, Christopher Ross, in the presence of delegations from both parties and representatives of the two observer countries, Algeria and Mauritania.

The Saharawi delegation will be headed by the president of the National Council (Parliament) of Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), Mr. Khatri Addouh, and Saharawi coordinator with the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) Mr. Emhamed Khaddad, and Mr. Ahmed Boukhari.

The Polisario Front and Morocco in June 2007 began direct negotiations under the UN auspices, with four rounds that took place in Manhasset, and seven informal meetings in Vienna, Valletta (Malta) and Manhasset. (SPS)
