Saharawi Government warns against unprecedented massacres in occupied Western Sahara

Shaheed Al Hafed (Saharawi refugee camps), Oct 11, 2011 (SPS) - the Sahrawi government warned Monday against the massacres and acts of unprecedented repression against Saharawi defenseless citizens in the occupied territories, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Information regarded to the alarming situation of human rights in Western Sahara.

The Saharawi government asserted that the latest bloody events that occurred in the Saharawi occupied territories amid a total absence of the foreign press and international observers, requires the establishment, without delay, to a mechanism to monitor and protect human rights.

The Saharawi Government called on the UN to assume full responsible to protect the Saharawi, until the completion of the decolonization process in the territory, the statement added.

“The Moroccan forces of repression violently intervened Monday against Saharawi citizens as they prepared to celebrate the day of the Sahrawi tent in commemoration of the anniversary of the Saharawi protest camp of Gdeim Izik,” the statement noted.

The intervention resulted dozens of injuries, among them the human rights activist, Sultana Khaya, amputated his right eye 2007 in Moroccan city of Rabat. (SPS)
