Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps), Nov 21, 2011 (SPS) - “Recognition of the Saharawi cause is one of my party’s biggest concerns within the Swedish parliament,” asserted Ms. Sara Karlsson, member of the Swedish Parliament from the Social Democratic Party.
The Swedish MP told SPS that her visit to the Saharawi refugee camps with the Party’s youth “aims to closely observe the situation of the Saharawi refugees in order to convey a comprehensive image to the Swedish society.”
She denounced the fisheries agreement between the European Union and Morocco, confirming that Sweden was among the first to reject the agreement, which is contrary to the UN resolutions.
Karlsson regretted on the tragic situation experienced by the Saharawis in the occupied part of Western Sahara and flagrant violations of human rights.
On relevant context, member of the Social Democratic Youth League, Natasa Mirosavic, presented Monday a lecture on history of the Swedish Social Democratic Party and its fight for woman right and equality, comparing it with the struggle of the Saharawi people.
Moreover, member of the Social Democratic Youth League, Hanna Lindquist, gave a lecture on the topic of leadership, pointing to the characteristics of the ideal leader and problems that block his way.
There will be also other lectures to be presented by the delegation on several topics.
It is noteworthy that the Swedish parliamentarian, from the Social Democratic Party, is visiting the Saharawi refugee camps along with four activists of the Social Democratic Youth League. (SPS)
