Addis Ababa 31, Jan 2012 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr.Mohamed Abdelaziz, said Monday in Addis Ababa that "leaders of Africa and the world cannot ignore deteriorating human rights situation in the occupied Western Sahara.
speaking before the 18th EU Summit , President Mohamed Abdelaziz underlined " human rights should not be subjected to discrimination and selection," expressing regret on ""the international community's indifference to the brutal attack carried about by Moroccan army against tens of thousands of Saharawi civilians in Gdeim Izik camp on November 8, 2010, despite the peaceful and civilized nature of their protest, which was an example for all people who look for freedom, democracy, justice and peace. "
The President denounced "the ongoing repression takes place in occupied territories, noting 23 Saharawi political prisoners are unedr arrest since the bloody attack of the Moroccan army against the Saharawi protest camp of Gdeim Izik ,"they have spent more than 14 months in jail and Moroccan regime threatens to subject them to military trial ".
"There are serious human rights violations as the case of Said Dambar, who was assassinated by Moroccan police in December 2010 and whose body is still in the morgue pending an investigation on circumstances behind his killing," highlighted Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz.
The President of the Republic reiterated the call for the immediate release of all Saharawi political prisoners, to unveil the fate on more than 651 missing as well as to open the occupied territories before media and international observers.(SPS)
