Salé (Morocco), Feb 20, 2012 (SPS) - Health of the six Saharawi students, incarcerated in the Moroccan jail of Salé, has been deteriorated due to a hunger strike they have held since last Monday, according to a statement of their hunger-strike’s follow-up committee.

The statement warned of the deteriorated health of the prisoners, especially as most of them suffer from serious diseases.

It also called for using pressure on Moroccan state to release all the Saharawi political prisoners including the six Saharawi students, holding Moroccan authorities responsible for the serious consequences of the their hunger strike.

“They are victims of oppression of the Moroccan state, through fabricating a range of baseless and unreal charges against them and against every Saharawi citizen speaking out of his positions in favor of the Saharawi people’s right to self-determination,” families of the prisoners said in a statement.

The group is expected to present today for the fourth time before what so-called the Moroccan First Instance Court of Rabat.

It should be recalled the six students have been incarcerated in the Moroccan prison of Salé 2 since April 2011 on the ground of their participation in sit-ins denouncing the assassination of the Saharawi student Hbad Hamadi. (SPS)
