Buenos Aires, May 6, 2012 (SPS) - The Secretary General of the Saharawi Women Union, Ms. Fatma Mehdi, has called on Argentina to recognize the Saharawi Republic (SADR), in a meeting held Sunday with Argentinean National Television.
Ms. Fatma Mehdi spoke about the violations of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, especially against women, who are subjected to injustice, torture and rape on the ground of their legitimate demands.
She added that the Moroccan authorities of occupation do not allow the access of international observers and media to the Territory.
“UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) should not remain as only mission that has no component to monitor human rights,” indicated the Saharawi official. (SPS)
