SADR and Ecuador sign on Understanding Memorandum to develop bilateral relations

Quito (Ecuador), July 13, 2012 (SPS) - The Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and Republic of Ecuador signed Thursday on a Memorandum of Understanding to develop the bilateral relations, according to a communiqué issued Friday by the Saharawi Embassy in Caracas.


The memorandum was signed by the Saharawi Ambassador to Venezuela Mr. Mbeirik Ahmed and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Integration of Ecuador Mr. Ricardo Patiño.


“The memorandum of understanding on the political consultations falls in the context of strengthening the relations and consultations between both countries. It renews every two years in the aim to explore the level of bilateral relations and examine the mechanisms to develop and reinforce them, as to exchanging views on regional and international issues of the common interest,” stated the communiqué.


During the signing ceremony, held at headquarters of Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry, Mr. Patiño expressed his country’s support to the right of Saharawi people to self-determination, recalling in this regard that this support constitutes “one of the pillars of his country’s foreign policy enshrined in its Constitution.”


The Minister reiterated conviction that the development of the friendly relations between the two countries “would also contribute to international peace and security as to promote trust and cooperation in international relations.” (SPS)
