Polisario Front stresses need to accelerate MINURSO’s full role in Western Sahara

Shahees Elhafed (Refugee Camps) July 24, 2012 (SPS) - The National Secretariat of the Polisario Front has emphasized the need to accelerate the empowerment of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to play its full role  in monitoring and reporting human rights and to move independently in an international zone under responsibility of the United Nations, said Tuesday statement culminated a meeting of NS under chairmanship of the Secretary-General of the Polisario Front and the President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz.

 

The National Secretariat welcomed the visit of UN Special Representative Wolfgang Weisbrod-Weber to the parties of the conflict, the Polisario Front and the Moroccan Kingdom, reiterating readiness of the Saharawi party to cooperate with UN efforts for decolonization in Western Sahara as soon as possible.

 

The National Secretariat condemned the Moroccan occupation’s policy of "obstruction and intransigence" which its last aspects is the announcement to refuse to cooperate with the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ambassador Christopher Ross

 

In another context, it welcomed the release of the European cooperators,  congratulating their families and the Saharawi people for their safety, renewing condemnation of the cowardly kidnapping . (SPS)
