Aid worker Oropesa reassured and have confidence on security measures taken by POLISARIO Front

Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps), July 30, 2012 (SPS) - The Spanish aid worker Pepe Oropesa, who choose to stay in the Saharawi refugee camps after his country’s government repatriate aid workers, has expressed his confidence on the security measures taken by the Polisario Front to protect the foreigners and aid workers in the camps, in a statements on Monday to SPS.


Pepe Oropesa, an independent aid worker, cooperates with AFAPREDESA giving Spanish lessons to youth in a program that started February and now he is collecting testimonies for a documentary in which he describes and narrates the real situations of forced disappearances in Western Sahara.


Regarding security in the camps, the young independent aid worker assured that the camps “are safe” and that the Polisario Front “has increased its deployment of security”, expressing his absolute confidence in the security measures.


“I do not live in fear because I have not seen any imminent danger that could put in danger my life in the refugee camps,” said the Spanish young aid worker with tranquility and confidence, adding “instead of bringing fear, we must bring hope, desire to work as to help those who need.”


The Saharawi Government has expressed regret for the decision taken by Spanish Government to repatriate Spanish aid workers from the Saharawi refugee camps. (SPS)
