President of Republic receives delegation of Spanish aid workers

Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps), August 11, 2012 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Frente Polisario, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, received Friday evening at headquarters of the Presidency delegation of the Spanish aid workers, at the end of a four-day solidarity visit to the Saharawi refugee camps following Spain Government’s decision to bring home its aid workers from the camps.


The President Mohamed Abdelaziz organized this afternoon a dinner on honour of the Spanish delegation, before leaving the Saharawi refugee camps, in the presence of members of the government as well as Saharawi political and military leaders.


The delegation was also received Thursday night by the Prime Minister Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, where he stressed that the movement of solidarity with the Saharawi people and Spanish civil society “remains the most important along Europe,” indicating that this movement “have showed over the past years its defence to the Saharawi cause and have provided a lot of aid to the Saharawi people since thirty-seven years.”


The delegation therefore met with a number of officials in the POLISARIO leadership and Saharawi government, including the Minister of Defence Mr. Mohamed Lamin Bouhali and the Saharawi Coordinator with the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) Mr. Mhamed Khaddad. In addition, they met with representatives of the UN organizations operating the in Saharawi refugee camps.


They visited headquarters of the Saharawi Television, Association of Families of the Saharawi Prisoners and Disappeared (AFAPREDESA) and some other national institutions.


Before that, the delegation attended a number of popular festivities organized in the Wilayas of the Saharawi Republic.

It is worthwile that this delegation, which led by the President of the Spanish Coordination of the Associations in Solidarity with Western Sahara (CEAS) José Taboada, includes 30 personalities representing NGOs, civil society and parliamentary groups along Spain. (SPS)
