Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps), August 11, 2012 (SPS) - “Polisario Front has a firm conviction that from now on there will be neither attacks nor even treacherous blows,” said Mr. Bachir Mastapha Sayad, Member of the National Secretariat and Minister of State, during a reception held Friday evening at headquarters of the Presidency on honour of the Spanish delegation of aid workers that makes a four-day solidarity visit to the Saharawi refugee camps.
Bachir Mastapha sent out, on behalf of the Saharawi government, a message of gratitude to the Spanish delegation, appreciating the Spanish assistance provided for the Saharawi people.
What we need more, says Mr. Bachir, is solidarity, cooperation, accompaniment and physical presence.
“The challenge we all face in the POLISARIO Front is not to give a chance for terrorism which aims to create a state of panic and terror. Thus, the task of each one of us is to implant the feeling of calm, confidence and commitment, as to make joint efforts to counter the threat of terrorism. Without this we cannot succeed,” Mr. Bachir told members of the Spanish delegation.
He also noted that the terrorist threats have remained dormant for nearly 40 years, but the pertinent appropriate measures have been taken and today “we are more prepared than ever to confront these threats,” indicated the Minister.
To reassure donors and friends of the Saharawi people, Member of the National Secretariat underlined that the Polisario Front “has intensified security inside the camps,” thus there is no place for concern on the physical security of the people.
The Minister reiterated his gratitude and recognition for the solidarity visit made by the Spanish delegation which includes representatives of NGOs, agencies and universities to the Saharawi refugee camps.
It should be recalled that members of the delegation signed, at the end of their visit, on a manifesto calling on Spain’s government to “reconsider its decision to withdraw aid workers from the Saharawi refugee camps,” and renewing emphasis on the need to support the Saharawi people in the refugee camps, particularly in the fields of health, nutrition and other aids afforded by the international bodies, associations and agencies.
